Pastor Benny Hinn: Charlatan or Man of God?

October 09, 2009

Lauren Green.

Pastor Benny Hinn is being investigated by the Senate Finance Committee and was recently denied entry into the United Kingdom. The press has been bad, he says, because the media doesn't understand him.

But the Texas-based faith healer, whose "Holy Spirit Miracle Crusades" pack sports arenas across the United States, is fielding questions about his controversies nonetheless. He says he needs to voice his concerns over the land of his birth, Israel, and the threat to it posed by a nuclear Iran — which he talks about in his new book “Blood in the Sand.”

“[The media] are never going to paint me as I want to be painted," Hinn said in an exclusive interview. "But, really, it doesn’t matter as long as people give me the chance to talk.”

And talking he is … about the finance probe, his lavish lifestyle and accusations that his faith healings are fake because he offers no documentation or verification that he has, in fact, helped the blind see and the crippled walk.

“They question me on why I don’t verify,” Hinn says. "I answer, ‘God never called me to verify. I’m not a doctor.'”

He says that after a tabloid news show aired an exposé on his worldwide Benny Hinn Ministries, he tried to make changes. The exposé reported that though thousands of people attending Hinn's religious gatherings said they were healed, the ministry couldn't prove they suffered from any infirmities in the first place, or that they actually had been miraculously healed.

So, Hinn says, his ministry created a department to handle verifications and follow up on the "miracles."

I was in Manila at the most expensive hotel in the country, the Shagri-La Hotel in Makati ... when his advance team came in... they were getting ready for him to stay there a few days later.

NO-ONE needs to stay at such a fancy place, $250 a night for the smallest room, in a third world country where there are plenty of other places just as safe.

You don’t travel much, do you?

250 is a lot for a fancy hotel??? Hardly, I pay more than that for dumps in some places in the world. But Mr Hin is a con artist... no doubt there.

I suggest you check the foreign perdiem rates for lodging in major cities. $250 isn’t all that much.

During the late 90s, Benny Hinn touted Y2K as the end of the world. I can’t believe people still watch him.

Charleton but I think its pathetic that the same folks who complain about our visa policies won’t let the charleton into their country yet have no problem allowing terrorists in.

I have Hinn on audiotape saying he wished he had a “Holy Ghost Machine Gun” to blow away those who speak worda against his “ministry”.

When Hinn was still in Central Florida, one of the local conservative talk show hosts allowed me to play my audio tape of Hinn on the air when I called in to his show.

Like Obama, Hinn is a flim-flam artist extrordinaire. It’s amazing how many simpletons fall for the BS.

Waste of time.

Anyone who knew — and believed — his Bible would have this guy pegged within a few sentences.

I don’t know what is in Benny Hinn’s heart, only God knows that, but he and several others who teach material blessing if you will only follow his lead are suspect at best.

Benny Hinn is not a true Pentecostal. There are certain beliefs that pentecostals share and Benny Hinn’s beliefs do not fall within the realm of true pentecostalism.

Benny Hinn is a Charismatic (there is a difference), and a Word of Faith (WOF) Charismatic at that.

Pastor Benny Hinn: Charlatan or Man of God?

I prefer the headline: Pastor Benny Hinn: Charlatan or Mountebank?
