From the article: LDS records, however, indicate that early Mormon leaders, Joseph Smith Jr. and Brigham Young, have both been “sealed” (married) for eternity to hundreds of wives. Despite its current temporal ban on polygamy, the LDS Church promotes polygamy on a perpetual basis.

Ask any religious person if what they do for eternity or what they do temporally will define them. They will tend to answer the former. Remember the next time a Mormon disowns polygamy.

From the article: The LDS Church has disowned Mormon fundamentalists. In sharp contradiction, the LDS temple system systematically validates the plural marriages of dead ex-Mormon polygamists through its marriage sealing rituals. An example of many such individuals is Rulon Clark Allred, who was excommunicated from the LDS Church in 1940 for practicing polygamy.

A literal Mormon marriage machine for dead spirits...and this goes on year-round -- not just around Halloween.

As though killers will share an eternal reward with their victims, Ervil Morrell LeBaron — the Mormon fundamentalist behind the death of Rulon Allred — was sealed by proxy in 2002 to Delfina Salido, from whom he was divorced.

You need to understand that Mormons clarify their belief that marriages are forever by saying that applies only to those who reach the highest degree of glory. So Mormons believe murderers need proxy eternal marriage sealings 'cause they represent the highest degree of works-righteousness folks?

That gets my vote for Headline of the Day.

Like that Jessop creature who tortured his young wife. And they think they can control other people’s souls. This is really, entirely and completely CREEPY.

I get the BYU channel on my cable and am amazed at what the Mormon’s believe about this con artist and former fleeing felon (fled from New York and Kirtland, Ohio following a $30,000 swindle . . . lots of money back then) in that they call him a prophet and sit him next to Jesus at the Pearly Gates.

I’m absolutely amazed that this huge religion was founded on such a sleezy and almost criminal foundation. Seers, magical stones, disappearing gold plates, “reformed Egyptian” (a language even the Egyptians said doesn’t exist), gods all over the place, Central American Indian history that never existed, Lucifer as Christ’s brother, God himself as a former human being, and blah blah blah.

These are well-meaning and apparently intelligent people for the most part who, for some reason, actually believe the malarkey that this Joseph Smith, Jr., spun lo those almost 200 years ago. Incredible.

Jesus said that in heaven, we are neither married, nor given in marriage.

So it doesn’t really matter how many women Mormons pretend they will be married to after death; Jesus has spoken.

BTW thats Matthew 22:30

At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.

And you are right ...

Jesus said it and so it is ...

So I guess since it is kinda legal for Mormons to have many wives, the Islamists who only want 4 will be OK under UnitedStates/Sharia Law.

Of course, I should have said “Mormons believe” rather than “Mormons pretend”. I don’t doubt that Mormons are sincere about what they profess, just that they are wrong.

Declaration 1 was more of a press release than a revelation in the manner of all the other revelations in D & C. Were they to revoke Sect 132, the rest of D & C would unravel quickly.

Sorry.

The result’s the same, I just hate to attribute motives to people unless they have expressed those opinions.

I’ve argued with enough Mormons to have an informed opinion about their sincerity.

18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall abind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

9 What therefore God hath ajoined together, let not man put asunder.

I have no idea why you posted those scriptures...

But I’ll educate you little grasshopper...

That first scripture has nothing to do with marriage...

The second is from Genesis and refers to ONE man leaving his mother and father and marrying ONE woman..

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh? Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. Matthew 19:4-6

God is not in polygamy AKA adultry...

Thou shall not commit adultry Exodus 20:14

23 And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.
24 And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid for an handmaid.
25 And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it was Leah: and he said to Laban, What is this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
26 And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
28 And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
29 And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.
30 And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
