Both the family and the Church stand in the way of socialism's triumph, former US Senator Rick Santorum told Christians gathered for the 17th International Week of Prayer and Fasting last week. The pro-life champion warned attendees, however, that both institutions are under heavy attack from Obama-administration policies.
"We are under a great assault with this President and this Congress on the issue of life. We are under a great assault, maybe even greater assault, on the foundational issue of the family," Santorum told those gathered for the October 11 dinner at the Omni Shoreham Hotel.
Santorum said that the left's policies, especially those policies aggressively set forward by the Obama administration, target the family and Christian churches for "destruction," because these institutions provide local social networks and support for individuals that take away the need for total dependence on central government. To eliminate these social networks means the triumph of socialism, and that means attacking marriage and Christian churches.
"There will be an assault on the institution of marriage," Santorum promised his audience. "Why? Because the left knows that they can't really have government come in and take control of everything unless they destroy the family. Unless you destroy the family and destroy the Church they cannot ultimately be successful in getting socialism to be accepted in this country and that's what their objective is."

An awful lot of socialism coming from the pulpit, these days.
Just sayin’.
The general principles upon which the Fathers achieved independence were the general principals of Christianity
I will avow that I believed and now believe that those general principles of Christianity are as eternal and immutable as the existence and attributes of God.
[July 4th] ought to be commemorated as the day of deliverance by solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.

“An awful lot of socialism coming from the pulpit, these days.”
I agree. I have been unable to resolve this issue with our current pastor and am looking for another parish.
Not too far off topic, my friend sent me this:
I FIND IT INTERESTING THAT A HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL CAN SEE THE PROBLEM, BUT OUR SOCIETY CANNOT. IF I OFFEND ANYONE BY THIS, I REALLY DON’T APOLOGIZE !
Subject: Tennessee Football !
This is a statement that was read over the PA system at the football game at Roane County High School , Kingston , Tennessee , by school Principal, Jody McLeod
“It has always been the custom at Roane County High School football games, to say a prayer and play the National Anthem, to honor God and Country.”
Due to a recent ruling by the Supreme Court, I am told that saying a Prayer is a violation of Federal Case Law. As I understand the law at this time, I can use this public facility to approve of sexual perversion and call it “an alternate life style,” and if someone is offended, that’s OK.
I can use it to condone sexual promiscuity, by dispensing condoms and calling it, “safe sex....” If someone is offended, that’s OK.
I can even use this public facility to present the merits of killing an unborn baby as a “viable! means of birth control.” If someone is offended, no problem...
I can designate a school day as “Earth Day” and involve students in activities to worship religiously and praise the goddess “Mother Earth” and call it “ecology..”
I can use literature, videos and presentations in the classroom that depicts people with strong, traditional Christian convictions as “simple minded” and “ignorant” and call it “enlightenment..”
However, if anyone uses this facility to honor GOD and to ask HIM to Bless this event with safety and good sportsmanship, then Federal Case Law is violated..
This appears to be inconsistent at best, and at worst, diabolical.
Apparently, we are to be tolerant of everything and anyone, except GOD and HIS Commandments.
Nevertheless , as a school principal, I frequently ask staff and students to abide by rules with which they do not necessarily agree. For me to do otherwise would be inconsistent at best, and at worst, hypocritical... I suffer from that affliction enough unintentionally. I certainly do not need to add an intentional transgression.
For this reason, I shall “Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar’s,” and refrain from praying at this time.
“However, if you feel inspired to honor, praise and thank GOD and ask HIM, in the name of JESUS, to Bless this event, please feel free to do so. As far as I know, that’s not against the law——yet.”
One by one, the people in the stands bowed their heads, held hands with one another and began to pray.
They prayed in the stands.. They prayed in the team huddles. They prayed at the concession stand and they prayed in the Announcer’s Box!
The only place they didn’t pray was in the Supreme Court of the United States of America- the Seat of “Justice” in the “one nation, under GOD.”
Somehow, Kingston , Tennessee Remembered what so many have forgotten. We are given the Freedom OF Religion, not the Freedom FROM Religion. Praise GOD that HIS remnant remains!
JESUS said, “If you are ashamed of ME before men, then I will be ashamed of you before MY FATHER..”
Did you talk to your pastor about it?
He’s responsible for souls, you have to call him on it.
Then the one over him if nothing happens.
It’s for the good of his soul as well as the church and congregation.
And pray, pray, pray.
I’ve spoken with the pastor twice about my concerns.
He gives me PC answers, or denies my claims.
The petitions are getting crazy. “That those who govern will enact laws providing for the common good of all the world’s citizens.” “That our leaders will exercise wisdom in preserving all the natural reasources God has provided.” “That elected officials will ensure proper medical care for all those amoung us.”
Yes, it’s that blatant. What’s most annoying is the “our leaders” “those who govern” “elected officials” preface to each prayer request.
It’s never a request for individuals to be charitable, it’s always a call for the government to enact compulsory redistribution.
I tried making this point, citing that my family is extremely generous but offended by prayers for government-mandated distribution.
Never a petition for our soldiers, the unborn, or even that God guide elected representatives.
The pastor just gave me the “Jesus calls us to provide for all his children” line. Jesus does call us to do so, but I don’t remember Him asking us to get the government involved.
We have people coming to mass with Obama bumper stickers. I told him that’s a good indicator that he has a problem in his parish. He told me he can’t tell people who to vote for.
The pastor’s a very young and ambitious msgr. He is definitely towing the church line, and trying to grow the parish.
Review:On Ordered Liberty goes beyond the liberal and conservative divide, asking its readers to think about the proper ends of human choice and actions in a free society. Beginning with the insights of Alexis de Tocqueville and some natural law sources, author Samuel Gregg suggests that integral law must be distinguished from most contemporary visions of freedom. This requires, he believes, a complete repudiation of utilitarian ideas as incompatable with human nature and further analysis of the basic but often neglected-question: what is man?
On the program, Gregg pointed out how socialism has gradually but successfully wend its way into contemporary society, beginning with higher education institutions in the 1960s. He provided great insight into how this has been absorbed by the masss.

"Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock."

No, I don't think so. At least not the ones in Catholic Churches.
Insofar as socialism is the bastardized mutant of just social teaching, it might seem so to the undiscerning.
We've always had to be especially patient with them.
So,if there’s one thing we’ve learned from Obama, it’s that the Catholic vote matters. Hence all the attention being paid to that constituency now by wannabes.
Riiiight.
Keep trying to convince yourself.
Cognitive Dissonance will be along shortly.
Plenty of pulpits are starting to line up behind Obama-care.
This isn't exactly a convincing argument. Just saying.
And since you totally missed the point about just social teaching, you miss the big clue about why socialists can fool people. people like you.
Response not necessary. If you want more, do your homework.
