Pray for our American Heroes

Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. (Psalm 127:3-5)

Father in Heaven, we bring our prayers to You, knowing that You hear us and waiting for the answers You will give.

Lord, we pray for our military, at home and abroad. We ask that You would protect them from evil, that You would deliver them from the hatred of their enemies. We pray especially for those who were wounded at Fort Hood, and for the families of those who were killed, that You would hold them in their pain.

Father, we pray for all women who are being tempted to choose abortion. You have taught us that children are a reward from You, and You call those with many children blessed. Help these women to understand that their babies are not punishments or burdens, but precious gifts. Father, we know that many of them have reason to be afraid or anxious. We ask You to open their eyes to the help offered to them.

Father, we continue to pray for the strengthening and increase of Your church throughout the world.

You, O Lord, are a God nearby and a God far away; You fill heaven and earth, and the skies testify to Your glory. You dwell in a high and holy place, but also with the contrite and lowly in spirit. You have shown compassion to us, and we rejoice in Your tender love, in the matchless Name of Jesus, Amen.
