Tennessee woman visits Jerusalem, takes photo of Jesus
StarNews Online Blogs ^ | 12/8/2009 | Mike Voorheis

An East Tennessee woman recently took a trip to Jerusalem with her church group, and she came back with a picture of Jesus.

Judy Mayes believes she captured an image of Jesus when she took a snapshot inside a tunnel near the Western Wall. When she flipped through the digital pictures, she saw a white figure on the tunnel image. She shared it with her pastor, who told her he thought it was Jesus. From the white robe, to blood trickling from the face to a crown of thorns.

While skeptics will certainly disagree with its authenticity, the Jesus photo certainly has more credence than the Virgin Mary burned into a piece of toast. Mayes told a reporter that Jerusalem was abuzz about her photo. She said people were climbing aboard the tour bus to view the picture on her camera.

Here’s a link to the Tennessean’s Web site. You can check out the photo and judge for yourself.

If it is genuine, I’d say the image is demonic. There’s no reason for Christ to have to appear as a smudgy apparition in some woman’s photograph. The face of this person looks distorted and bloody. Christ is no longer beaten and bloody.

THANK YOU! My point exactly, but you say so much more eloquently. And I'm with you with the demonic aspect. Ponder your initial reaction when you saw this: a little freaked out? creeped out? puzzled? If it was truly of God your reaction would be so much different.

For the record, and contrary to the "standard" implications these sorts of postings on the FR Religion Forum are expected to deliver, this particular wacky "manifestation" came from a Baptist. Silliness knows no denominational boundaries, these days. To that end, and seeing that you are a believing Christian, why bother posting them? They make us all look a wee bit ridiculous in the eyes of the many fence-sitters who lurk here, no?

The Apostle John saw the Glorified Christ in 90 AD or earlier, and wrote down His description in Revelation chapter One. It certainly does not look anything like what can be seen in that image. There is no Biblical reason for Jesus Christ, whose Redemption work was completed, to be laying aside His glories to walk around in any tunnel underneath Jerusalem in imitation of a “Jesus” created by artists.

The Apostle Paul said, “ . . . though we have known Christ after the flesh, now henceforth know we him no more.” (2 Cor. 5:16)

And Jesus Himself said, “ . . . if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.” (Matthew 24:23).

There is no reason for God to appear to someone fuzzy and unclear. All the visions the prophets and Apostles have had are clear, and vivid. But the fact it appears ghostly as opposed to the Living Christ in His perfect body tells me it isn’t genuinely Him. And further, we know from Scripture how Christ IS going to return - and it ain’t that photograph.

Christ is risen.
He doesn’t hang around like a ghost or a spirit.

It looks more like a severed rams head hanging upside down from the rafters.

There is a white curtain in the back ground.

I don't see the big deal. Down in Texas you can get a photograph of Jesus crossing the border at least 20 - 30 times a day.

But I have no worries, I do not need photos to convince me that Jesus is real

And that in a nutshell is the true definition of FAITH.

In this photo there is at least one "Jesus", several other faces and assorted simulacra.

Take your time.

When Christ walked the earth people didn’t believe who He was in person. It is one thing to think that this picture is not authentic but it is another to mock Christ the way some of you have while hiding behind this picture.

If it is genuine, I’d say the image is demonic. There’s no reason for Christ to have to appear as a smudgy apparition in some woman’s photograph. The face of this person looks distorted and bloody. Christ is no longer beaten and bloody. In fact Christ resurrected in His physical body that is now immortal and perfect, He is not an apparition nor would He appear this way. There is no need to. And especially to appear weak, even if this is in the area of His atoning death.

Christ is coming back in power and glory and everyone is going to KNOW it when it occurs. He is coming back powerful, and mighty, as King. Not like this.

This is exactly what I thought when I looked at the picture. If this is an actual image, and not some distortion of something else, then it is demonic and is designed to deceive.

Christ is King of all Kings and Lord of all Lords and you're right, there will be no mistaking that fact when He returns to reclaim His creation and establish His kingdom.

“If it is genuine, I’d say the image is demonic.”

Agree. My cousin is a Baptist pastor in Italy. They see a lot of freaky stuff that gets the locals in a big stirred-up frenzy believing they’re seeing signs from God. Crying statues. Bleeding statues. (No burned toast stories — so far.) Most likely demonic activity intended to confuse.

I’m not mocking ~Christ~.

I’m mocking those who have no comprehension of the relentless determination of the human brain to reassemble random, chaotic bits of visual information into comprehensible “pictures”.

I’m fairly sure Jesus certainly has better things to do than lurk around in meat lockers, waiting to spring out at tourists.

Get a grip.

*If* that *were* actually Christ, would it not then technically qualify as His “second coming”?

The bible plainly states there will be only ONE “second coming” and since it still hurts when I pinch myself, it ain’t happened yet.

IMO, these “signs and wonders” are demonic ploys to deceive the gullible.

[all that ‘end times’ led astray by false dotrines stuff, doncha ya know...mayhap you should be more a wee bit more discerning...even the elect can get snagged up]
