This is a great article that shows the root problem with Romanism, that is, the pagan notion of a heirarchy of being that informs all Romanist theology as shown through the specfic problem of clerical celibacy.

Let's summarize: "Clerical celibacy is wrong because men are beasts who can't control themselves. We have the word of a noted 16th century clerical horndog for that."
Teenage celibacy is wrong, too. Christians should encourage hooking up. /s

That old canard is raised once again - that somehow if Catholic Priests were “married” that those few that sexually abused children (really homosexuals abusing boys) would somehow have been avoided. Nonsense.

Are you going to give an argument or just make an assertion?

Did you even read the article? What? Did he read the article? What kind of a question is that? How insulting! How dare you ask him a question like that! Did he read the article???
Er, well, no, actually he probably didn't.

They should let married men be priests; they’re reliable, stable, and for the most part, celibate.

Yes, and I repeat Campion’s comments.
This is a poorly framed argument with little objective basis to support it.

Yes, I did. I'm sorry I wasted my time.
The "men can't be expected to live this way; let's bend the rules" argument is the same one made by the early Mormons on behalf of polygamy.
Check out the numbers on adultery among Protestant clergy. It ain't pretty.

I'm okay with ordaining married men. I'm only not okay with the idea that sexual continence is not something that ought to be expected of Christians, which is what this article amounts to.

Lifelong celibacy is impractical, unnatural and, ultimately, harmful to the Church.Periodic celibacy,as practiced in Eastern Rite Churches seems good...a symbolic acknowledgment that, before God,there's a time and place for everything.
Anything more than that is a recipe for disaster,IMO.
To: Spok
Protestant clergy are at least as guilty of sexual improprieties as are priests.

BTW, Martin Luther managed to see his way clear to performing at least polygamous marriage. Look it up.

Thank God youre not describing the Catholic Church.Indeed! I don't believe we would find any catholic Christian in any Christian denomination that would hold to this heresy.
