Are we bogged down in Christmas?
Bogged down in anxiety about finances?

We're not. I can honestly say that this has been a delightful season. We live frugally through good times and bad, so when we could buy gifts this year, we spent on the Veterans at the VA Hospital here in St. Louis. Their needs were so basic and the Marines are so caring, that it was a joy to provide a little comfort for those who cannot go home for the holidays. I'll be with the Marine Families this evening to put all the gifts together and enjoy a potluck supper.
Since my son accepts his Commission in January, his gift this Christmas was simple. I'll be giving him his Mameluke sword. I'll be going over to tie bows and decorate his Christmas tree with white candy canes, blue stars and red and white candy cane ribbons. He managed to buy the biggest Douglas Fir on the lot and the lights to go with it — but has no ornaments. That's my boy. So, it's popcorn and soda and homemade ornaments. Oorah! A Jarhead Christmas. ;-)
I started to get all frazzled about the baking, the buying etc.......... Then for some reason, I just stopped. I am enjoying more and worrying less. I am remembering why there is a Christmas at all, and it is wonderful.
Merry Christmas Freepers!
