Ten Commandment Projects Thwart ACLU
Newsmax ^ | 27 Dec 2009 | David A. Patten

When ACLU officials bullied Duluth, Minn., into removing its Ten Commandments display, it looked like another victory in the organization's ongoing crusade to make America a secular nation.

Imagine the ACLU's chagrin, however, when the single memorial soon was replaced by four new ones at various locations -- and each larger than the original.

The Project Moses group that provided those new monuments -- as well as hundreds more like them on display throughout the nation -- erects its engraved marble Ten Commandments displays on private property such as churches and synagogues. There, the 5-foot 4-inch-tall monuments stand proudly where the ACLU is powerless to interfere.

"We support those groups fighting for the right to display the 10 commandments on public property," Project Moses Executive Director Joe Worthing tells Newsmax. "However, we believe that if the first place someone sees the Ten Commandments is at the county courthouse, that's probably why they are there. If we are truly serious about changing the moral direction the country is going in, it has to start by getting these viewed on a regular basis."

Isn’t it ironic that the ACLU being a group of communist law makers who use our legal system, don’t see that our laws are based upon the 10 Commandments? Why is it wrong to steal or kill? Why do people go to prison for these crimes? Well, duh, because the 10 Commandments tell us its wrong. If not, then where does this group of commies and their cronies in the court system get their legal grounds for crime?

Hope I’m making sense.

Yes you are. Even atheists argue things based on a moral compass. For example, if someone ran up breathlessly to an atheist in a workplace meeting and said, “You won’t believe this! I just saw someone steal your car!” that atheist would be incensed, run out of the meeting, and probably dial 9-1-1. Later, maybe someone should say to the atheist, “What was the big deal? It just happened to be that car thief’s belief that it’s okay to steal cars. Who are you to get upset?”

The Project Moses group that provided those new monuments -

Quick show of hands: how many here, and how many who support this kind of stuff

  1. can recite the ten commandments. No peeking.
  2. can tell me where to find them in the Bible. No peeking.
  3. hear them regularly in church.

I'm guessing the number would be below ten percent.

I guess I am the one who is confused, then. Isn't our government based on theft (taxation) and killing (war)?

In fact I find it hard to reconcile our government with any of the 10 commandments, in the second set anyway. It does hold closer to the original 10 commandments in Exodus 34:11–27 though, especially when it starts out with war and slavery.

I have now...
from The New Revised Standard Version

11 Observe what I command you today. See, I will drive out before you the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

12 Take care not to make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land to which you are going, or it will become a snare among you.

13 You shall tear down their altars, break their pillars, and cut down their sacred poles*

14 (for you shall worship no other god, because the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God).

15 You shall not make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, for when they prostitute themselves to their gods and sacrifice to their gods, someone among them will invite you, and you will eat of the sacrifice.

16 And you will take wives from among their daughters for your sons, and their daughters who prostitute themselves to their gods will make your sons also prostitute themselves to their gods.

17 You shall not make cast idols.

18 You shall keep the festival of unleavened bread. For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread, as I commanded you, at the time appointed in the month of Abib; for in the month of Abib you came out from Egypt.

19 All that first opens the womb is mine, all your male* livestock, the firstborn of cow and sheep.

20 The firstborn of a donkey you shall redeem with a lamb, or if you will not redeem it you shall break its neck. All the firstborn of your sons you shall redeem. No one shall appear before me empty-handed.

21 For six days you shall work, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even in ploughing time and in harvest time you shall rest.

22 You shall observe the festival of weeks, the first fruits of wheat harvest, and the festival of ingathering at the turn of the year.

23 Three times in the year all your males shall appear before the Lord God, the God of Israel.

24 For I will cast out nations before you, and enlarge your borders; no one shall covet your land when you go up to appear before the Lord your God three times in the year.

25 You shall not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven, and the sacrifice of the festival of the passover shall not be left until the morning.

26 The best of the first fruits of your ground you shall bring to the house of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a kid in its mother’s milk.

27 The Lord said to Moses: Write these words; in accordance with these words I have made a covenant with you and with Israel.
