EZ. A good God allowed his only begotten Son, the creator of the universe, to be born in the most humiliating circumstances in a cattle shed and then be tortured and crucified and buried in a stranger’s grave. So what’s there to raise this issue of a “good” God?

everybody dies eventually. Some people die of heart attacks, some die of Cancer, some die from war, starvation, plague, some die of earthquakes, floods, blizzards, etc. We all owe a debt of death, that’s the deal. All that matters in the end is how you lived.

Death is different from God’s point of view.

God is welcoming home those that were lost to us, and he’s there to comfort those who were left behind.

Mat 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
Mat 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

If you believe in the immortal soul then the people who have died so tragically have simply moved on the problem is our limited vision of where we currently are in the big picture God understands this we do not.

As the Eagle’s said in Hotel California:”you can check out any time you want, but you can never leave”.

Let me share with you my answer to your question — sort of my take on Job.

The Universe is a massive tapestry of majestic beauty and making, literally, perfect sense in the long run. But you have to be OUTSIDE space and time to perceive it.

We are on a spot on that tapestry. We can perceive the strands that we connect to and even dimly a few strands away (via our ability to see the world and even nearby stellar objects).

But we can’t see the entirety, since it is impossible to have the proper perspective.

This disaster is part of the entirety of the tapestry. It is part of the strands that make up the background (the Earth). God made the rules that the physical Earth and by which it operates. We get a habitable environment, food, water, resources, etc. But they come at a cost. The planet continues to grow and change, as do we all.

It is what we DO as God’s children when these disasters happen that continues to perfect the tapestry.

This isn’t “New Age” philosophy. It is a direct application of Christianity (Christ changed the tapestry and straightened the threads that were askew) to an old yet always relevant question.

I will pray for help for the afflicted and will give money for relief efforts.

I hope this helped at least a little. You can ease your heart by helping. That is what God wants from us.

Is it true the Haitian people celebrate voodoo and other practices of worship detrimental to God? If so, then there’s your answer.

What about Job?

Where is God? Where is the good God?

The only people who died were the ones that pissed him off.

I'd be careful for the next few days if I were you.
