Can a person be born gay? Well, so far all the available evidence says no.

Is it complicated? Of course, but that only means it takes more than a cursory look at the evidence to understand the issues.

It is complicated in the sense that most people don't want to accept that ALL mankind is born with a sin nature. Some homosexuals may argue that God made them that way, so therefore, they should not be put down. Some may also say they were born pedophiles or have a sexual attraction to animals or dead bodies. The list of perversions can be endless, yet we haven't heard anyone say yet that sex with children should be okay (yet!).

Alcoholism and drug addiction have ceased to called personal failures or weaknesses and are now thought to be diseases or addictive disorders. The argument has always been, "It's not my fault, I was born this way."

My opinion is that sin is sin and we are all guilty of something that God forbids. He has been quite clear that homosexual acts are an abomination to him. But he doesn't approve of heterosexual acts outside of marriage either. Nor does he approve of stealing, murder, lying, jealousy, idolatry or disrespect towards parents. Claiming God made me this way as an out to continue in behavior that is forbidden is to ignore the call to repentance God desires for all of us. It also rejects the forgiveness that he offers for all who come to him in faith. When we accept the Lord Jesus Christ as savior in faith by the grace of God, he creates within us a new nature and he promises us victory over sin and the ability to walk with him in newness of life.
