Church of England Is "Living In The Past", Says BBC's Head of Religion The BBC's head of religion has accused the Church of England of "living in the past" and said that the corporation should not give Christianity preferential treatment.

BBC's head of religion, Aaqil Ahmed [Pic in URL]. Aaqil Ahmed, a controversial executive whose appointment last year prompted more than 100 complaints, said: "I think all the faiths should be treated in the same way. I don't believe in treating any faith differently." He dismissed claims that the BBC was marginalising religion as overly simplistic and argued that Christianity, in particular, was already covered well on television.

His comments come on the eve of a debate at the General Synod, the Church's parliament, over the BBC's treatment of Christianity. There has been growing concern at top levels of the Church over the corporation's approach to religion, with warnings that it must not ignore its Christian audience.

Dr Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, met last year with Mark Thompson, the BBC's director-general, to discuss religious broadcasting. Bishops, clergy and lay members of the General Synod will vote this week on a motion calling on the state broadcaster to explain why its television coverage of Christianity has declined so steeply in recent years.

Is it not well past time the Britain dissolved the BBC and let the people of Britain vote for programming with their viewership and money?

Why should government appointees be deciding what the British people should watch on TV paid for with money forcibly taken from them?

He is a liberal fool, Christianity gave us liberty, free markets, taught us slavery was bad, that all men are equal, and our morals. No other religion has done that. Our society is based on Christian teaching. Why not give the greatest religion preference?
Liberalism is a mental disease that worships death and slavery.

England does not have a freedom of religion amendment. The Church of England is the state church, and Christianity is the state religion. I have to admit, having lived in England, that the Anglican church is a pile of liberal crap, but there are a few Anglicans that actually believe what they confess in their liturgy and creeds. It is nominally Christian. The Brits have never treated all religions equally. They tolerate other religions and denominations, but THE faith is the Anglican faith. As England has become secular, although there is a recent flight to Rome by some Brits, religion is dead except among the Muslims. Materialism is the religion of England.

If they were living in the past and had the beliefs and faith of their fathers and mothers, they wouldn’t be in the mess they are now. A few years ago the Archbishop of Canterbury, the HEAD of the Church of England, said that he didn’t believe that Jesus was the son of God.

England—go back to the Book of Common Prayer! Look to your past and try not to please everyone. Remember the old song:
“You can’t please everyone so you got to please yourself.”
