Praying for Baby Mindy update on her condition- Update: Mindy will not need surgery

I just talked to Mindy's sister. She said that the babie's intestines had folded over on itself. She had been fussy and when she spit up and poo'd it had blood in it. That's how they knew Mindy was sick.

The doctors did a barium enema and the intestines untwisted. They will keep her over night for observation and if things keep going well they will release her to go home tomorrow. The dotor will have to operate if the part of her intestines that was damaged, doesn't stop bleeding. That's the danger now. So keep praying, prayer warriors, I know God hears us and will answer. Babies are precious to Him. Blessings to all. I'll keep you posted.

Thank you for the update on the baby’s condition. I’m sure she felt better when the torsion resolved. Prayers that it does not recur, and prayers that no permanent damage was done. Also praying for her parents, as they must be in pain with their beloved child.

You don’t say if it was torsion or intusucception (sp) but I am thinking it was one or the other.

So glad to hear they got a diagnosis: The term is “intussusception” and if not taken care of can be deadly. The part of the intestine that telescoped into itself gets the blood supply cut off and in rare cases they have to go in a remove part of the intestine...Recurrences according to my book is rare. She is lucky they diagnosis it early...Most cases are in children with most being from 4 to 10 months old...Reasons for it unknown, but listed several factors that are thought to be responsible. Parents did nothing to cause it. Hope baby continues to do well....god bless

Thank you!!! Her sister tried to tell me what it was called, I think she did pronounce it right. Sounds scary, poor little one. Her sister posted a picture of her from this morning via cell phone. She looked real happy and her cheeks were all rosy. Hopefully she will be home tomorrow. She has lots of brothers and sisters waiting for her to come home, big loving family :)

sounds like either intussuseption or a malrotation...

Glad they found it in time...if you get it early, a barium enema will solve the problem...if it goes too long, it takes major surgery.

Her sister said it was, intussuseption. I didn’t put that down because I couldn’t quite remember what she called it and even if I’d remember I wouldn’t have been able to spell it...lol Her sister had a mobile picture of Mindy on her face book yesterday. She looked like one happy little girl yesterday afternoon. Probably felt a whole lot better.
