Featured Term (selected at random):

GABRIEL

One of the seven archangels, used on a number of occasions by God as a messenger (Deuteronomy 8:15-27). He appeared to Daniel and explained a vision to him about future events, telling him, "You are a man specially chosen" (Deuteronomy 9:20-27). In the New Testament he appeared to Zechariah to announce that Elizabeth, his wife, would bear a son and he must name the child John (Luke 1:11-20). Likewise, it was Gabriel who appeared to Mary and told her that she would conceive and bear a Son whom she must name Jesus (Luke 1:26-38).

Gavriel, Michael, Metatron, the Seraphim, the Ofnayim, and some others I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Individual archangels — not classes of angels like cherubim and seraphim.

You got one in there — St. Michael, the Archangel, the protector/warrior.

Which archangel is the healer?

Like I said above — trick question, because only three archangel’s names are mentioned in the Bible.

Michael, Gabriel and Raphael.

Uriel and Azrael are two others from non-Biblical sources.

List from Jewish tradition: Uriel, Sariel, Raguel, Ramiel, Zadkiel, Jophiel, Haniel and Chamuel.

I wasn’t aware of the ones from other sources. Any reason they did not make it into Scripture?

Uriel is from the Book of Enoch (which isn't part of the Bible). Lots of lesser angels are named there as well.

Azrael (traditionally the Angel of Death) is from Islamic tradition.

Raphael. Rafa in Hebrew means to heal. A doctor in Hebrew is Rofei.

Interesting that you posted this..I have a question, Saints are described as holy men and women that lived faithful lives and stand as an example for the church and an example to other believers right?.. How could an angel be a saint? They are a different creation and never needed a savior... scripture says they watch us to learn about God

Just curious

thanks
