His guesses have been off but then again so have yours on one issue or the other from time to time. As far as the Scriptures are concerned he teaches sound doctrine and likewise preaches salvation through Christ and Christ alone. :-)

His "guesses" have consistently been dead wrong, yet people still take those "guesses" seriously. I don't think such commentary deserves a "green apple."

As for sound doctrine - I would argue that Gary DeMar teaches sound doctrine, but you call him a "bad apple." I can understand that from your point of view, but it would perhaps be more honest to identify that point of view up front, rather than simply representing it as THE "sound" point of view.

I’ve met Hal face to face in a small group setting.

He’s neither a fool nor a charlatan.

He is human.

Perhaps you are not?

How any Christian can even imagine such an outrageous statement given all the puzzle pieces that have fallen into place since 1948

is beyond even the psychologist part of me.

Nah, you’re just a very emotional person.

Wow, that's out of left field, and one of the funnier things I've read in awhile. You obviously don't know me.

You’ll be ok after you’ve had a good nights rest.

I'm perfectly fine now; I have no idea what gives you the idea that I'm expending any emotion on you whatsoever, except perhaps amusement.

That said, I'm probably done with you, for the very reason you quote (Proverbs 26:4).

xjcsa you are not considering the very real and solid fact that you don’t know what sound doctrine is. Study the Bible and get your heart right with the Lord and then we’ll talk.

Having never met me, and having read only a few sentences that I've written, you know that it's a "real and solid fact" that I don't know what sound doctrine is, and you know that my heart is not right with God. That tells me all I need to know about you.

I mostly agree with your ratings from a quick scan.

I’d rate Dave Hunt lower and Pat Robertson and David Wilkerson higher.

Good job.

Thx.

I agree, I’m in between with Pat Robertson myself. He has done a lot of good. I understand.

Thanks Quix

I just know what it’s like to receive prophetic stuff from Holy Spirit myself.

Sometimes . . . evidently due to being more spiritually kosher or something . . .

I can hear very clearly and accurately without contaminating what I hear with my own notions and stuff.

Other times, I can’t. And if, when I can’t, I’m still brazen enough to pretend I can or even to say—I don’t know but I think God might be trying to encourage us to XYZ . . . then God have mercy . . . it can be a real hodge podge.

It’s not per se because my heart is all horribly sinful or my motives or intentions are evil. It’s just because I’m human and don’t have such a gifting remotely squared away or don’t have my life sufficiently squared away or some such for it to be handled flawlessly.

I haven’t actually met anyone who was perfect about those kinds of things. Some are a lot closer than others, however.

Anyway—as long as there’s a good genuine heart attitude toward God and God’s priorities, I’m happy to extend the Grace I’d like to receive.

So none of the Green Apples speak for God? What good are they then? They’re just men.

Wow, that sums up the modern Christian condition very well. God speaks to all of us and the less you’re doing your own thing the easier it is to hear him(I’m paraphrasing).
Thanks for adding light to series of post that are becoming somewhat dim. LOL

IMHO, when I’ve studied Hal Lindsey, I’ve found doctrine that lifts man up towards God through faith in Christ, while those who are his most deepest adversaries, consistently tend to lower Christ to man.

For this reason, I’ve found it more glorifying to the Son to pay more attention to folks who study Lindsay, through faith in Christ, than those who argue against Lindsay by devotion to a different theology.

This list is primarily a crock - loaded with partially baseless favoritism...

Far too many of the subject comparitives are among mainstream or slightly off-mainstream dispensationalists and folk of other prophetic interpretretive stripes who are near - nutcases.

Not reasonable by objective standards.

This list deserves to be largely ignored especially for its red-apple ‘dissing’ giant Bible scholars like Hank Hanegraaf and Dr. Walter Martin, whose reference books the list maker(s) is/are unworthy to carry.

Probably almost half the familiar names among the “green apples” are hermeneutically sketchy on their better days.

I will exclude certain notables such as John Ankerberg, J. Dwight Pentecost, Randy Alcorn (whom I knew personally), Dr Charles Stanley, Jerry Falwell, Josh McDowell and Charles Swindoll - who I find more sound and measured in their approach and reserved in arriving at conclusions in most situations...

Otherwise, George MacDonald, J.B. Lightfoot (an English relation of mine), Francis Schaeffer and C.S Lewis are quietly weeping over tea in a corner in heaven (or maybe they’re chortling in politely dignified disdain).

Wilkerson wrote a book back in the late 70's where he discusses a vision that he had. I read it about once a year, and the stuff in it keeps coming true, though with 20/20 hindsight on my part. For instance, he wrote about tv's in every home that were spewing out porno 24/7, available to anyone. Not tv's, but computers and the web. He also wrote of a "hate Christ" movement that coincided with a rebellion against parents. I think we're seeing the prelude to the former, and the latter's picking up steam.

I like Sproul, though I disagree with him on the preterist thing. His book on holiness is great.
