(You need not respond to the latter point: I will take it as given that you do not believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet. We will simply have to agree to disagree.)

But we KNOW he was a prophet!

A prophet who was FALSE many, many times.

Would you DISAGREE that the Holy Bible is WRONG where it says that if a what a 'prophet' prophecies does NOT come true; that shows he's a FALSE prophet?

“He does? Well, it is a good thing that I do not trust my feelings to determine the truth, isn’t it? “

Oh really, all an LDS testimony is using feelings to determine truth. That is the basis of LDS belief.

“The Bible is not enough. “

And that is a fatal error.

“If God chooses to give additional scripture by revelation to his prophets, that does not give any advantage to Satan whatsoever. Indeed, Satan would want us to ignore additional light and knowledge from God.”

My logic is not faulty. You assume the ‘additional light and knowledge’ must always come from God. It doesn’t. Satan gave info to Adam and Eve that was a lie. The role of the prophets is OVER, it was OVER with the sacrifice of Christ. To say we still need prophets is to say that God didn’t keep His word. All the light and knowledge we need is in the Bible. But full acceptance of the Bible as authoritative leads to seeing the LDS church as a fraud.

“But that does not mean that every miracle is from Satan.”

And it doesn’t mean that an ‘angel of light’ is from God.

How the elders and priests administer the sacramental bread. Between A.D. 400 and 421

Source? ‘cuz it ain’t Biblical.

Did it ever occur to you that Smith MADE THOSE PRAYERS UP??? Far too wordy and redundant for God.

Why are you quoting D&C to me? I believe those are not from God but that Smith made them up. No they mean nothing to me.

Anything from the Bible?

Resty, learn what a High Priest is.

Read Hebrews 5. Christ is our ONLY High Priest. His sacrifice did away with the temple sacrifices and the need for any other High Priest.

To Christians, Christ is our ONLY Prophet, our ONLY Priest, and our ONLY King. To say that there are others is to take glory from Him.

(By the way, I disagree with your assessment of the Book of Abraham.)

But every real Egyptologist agrees with Elsie, the BoA is laughable. There is absolutely NO WAY the scrolls and facsimiles can be reconciled with the text. And, yes, translation means translation.

Kinda like using E.A. Wallis Budge as a reference.

I’m not surprised. I have seen 14 yr old boys tell their own mothers that they (the mothers) weren’t worthy and they (the boys) knew because they held the Priesthood.

I have also known men to hold the priesthood over their wives and threaten to not call them out of the graves if they weren’t submissive enough.

Serious power trip there.

I find that you most certainly do not. For example, Patriarchal Blessings.

Prove it, prove that you know more than me, please. And when has the subject of Pat. Blessings come up? I don’t recall discussing it on here, would you care to source it for me?

I still have my PB if you would like me to post it for everyone to read.

Saundra, admit it, I can run circles around you in LDS theology and history.

As my husband often says: It’s not bragging if you can do it.

I agree the stuff she posts here is way too Christian for the LDS. Indicates much confusion and ignorance.about her chosen cult.

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. But it is NOTHING AT ALL like the LDS ‘gospel’.

What do I believe? I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God (not literally like the LDS do) who suffered and died on the CROSS (not the garden) and shed His blood on the Cross that If I believe in Him, because of His grace (no works needed) I will be saved (justified) and spend eternity with God the Father in Heaven and that all we need for salvation is found in the Bible.

I do not believe we existed before we came to earth, I do not believe only one denomination holds the truth, I do not believe in the need for secret temple rituals, extra scripture, and I do not believe that we can ever become Gods (all LDS beliefs).

Funny thing about the AoF, at first glace they SEEM Christian but when you look closely, you can see the heresies.

Sad is that the LDS are putting their faith in a church to save them, thinking they are working toward godhood, rather than just surrendering to Jesus Christ.

Saundra, all LDS are on a path of darkness and only the light of Christ, salvation by Grace through faith can save them from its shackles.

And why do you have to post the AoF? Can’t you put your beliefs in your own words? C’mon ante up. Sad, really.

This needs a Christian with authority from Jesus to straighten out...

Saundra, you have proven over the years you dont know much at all...

Your choosing the so called “right” instead of the Cross shows a lack of knowledge...

Jesus came for religious reasons not political...the Pharisses made that mistake too...

Your insistance that so called “patriarchal blessings” have merit in todays Christianity since Jesus came shows a lack of knowledge...

The Old Testament prophecies were fulfilled and the law was fulfilled...

Nothing and nobody stands in the way of men and women getting to God...the curtain was ripped in two...stop trying to sew it back up...

Reaganaut, you have proven over the years that you have more knowledge than many in the threads...

and you especially know more than the ignorant Joey Smith or the ignorant Brigham Young or the ignorant Monson...

Saundra you might want to just keep quiet and learn something from Reaganaut...

CTR = Choose the Right.

Saundra, as a Christian I know that *I* cannot ‘choose the right’, that is why I need Jesus. I am a sinful human being. However, because of my faith in Christ (not my works or ‘worthiness’) I have the Holy Spirit with me and He is the one that ‘chooses the right’.

To say that we, of our own free will, can choose the right, is typical LDS arrogance.

WE CAN’T DO ANYTHING, ONLY GOD CAN and God is NOT in the Mormon Church.
