Mrs. Chief Engineer God Bless you this must be so difficult.
Chief Engineer God Bless you and heal you.
May God Bless you both and heal you so you may be back together.
Prayers for all.
God bless!
Many thanks for the prayers, they are much appreciated by both myself(Mrs Chief) and the Chief himself who will read the entire thread once he is finally released from the hospital.
He was admitted to the hospital early Sunday morning after I contacted his son in Idaho, and I knew how seriously ill he was at that time. When the doctor arrived at the E.R. she was doubtful as to whether he would pull through. Last month she had given him some samples of Advair to try and he had experienced no problems but because he is a senior citizen on Medicare (after working until he was over 70) Medicare dictates what drugs are covered and Advair is not. The doctor then prescribed Sperevia(sp) and within 3 days of him beginning to take the drug he began to experience all of the adverse side effects listed for that particular medication so he will have to file an appeal to have Advair prescribed for him and only the Good Lord knows how long that will take. Aside from the breathing difficulties he also has a bleeding ulcer in his stomach, and severe anemia and has lost over 30 pounds. He has been receiving blood transfusions all day long but is experiencing computer and wife withdrawals terribly. All I can do is phone him nightly when I would much rather be at his side where a wife should be when her husband is so ill. We are both suffering healthwise from this separation and pray nightly for some type of miracle so we may once again be together again. Once again Thanks to all you gracious Freepers for the prayers, they are very much appreciated!
MrsChief in Canada suffering through a terribly slow socialized medical system while worrying about Mr Chief receiving excellent care even at a tiny hospital in the U.S.
Prayers for your medical problems to be quickly and completely solved, prayers for comfort, peace and excellent medical care.
In Christ’s Holy Name, Amen.
Prayers sent to the entire Chief family. May you be reunited quickly and in better health.
[update on ‘The Chief’-email from Mrs. Larsen-I’ll send as FRmail to those on this list:]
Here is the latest update for the Chief Engineer. He was supposed to be released from the hospital yesterday but had decided he would stay last night and find someone to drive him home today. Since some of the medications they have him on have made his blood sugar rise to high levels he has been getting insulin. Unfortunately, last night one of the nurses gave him 60 UNITS of insulin instead of the 6 units he was supposed to get and he had another medical crisis. To top it off communication has been quite lax between the hospital and the kitchen regarding his receiving diabetic meals instead of regular meals and he is also not supposed to receive any leafy green vegetables. Everyday he has been getting what we both refer to as “junk juice” loaded with sugar on his meal trays as well as plentiful amounts of leafy green vegetables. After watching me, as a type 1 diabetic for the past 7 years, he is well aware of how to treat the disease and knows that I only drink fruit juice to bring my blood sugar level up when it goes too low. Since he has been having high levels he will not touch the “junk juice” which appears on almost every one of his meal trays and he hates it when the green leafy vegetables also appear. His son, my step-son phoned here at midnight last night looking for test strips for one of my spare blood glucose monitors and finally found them before heading back to the hospital. I must admit that both step sons are being rocks throughout this ordeal but continued prayers would definitely be appreciated. The Chief had a raucous meeting with the hospital administrator this morning and was advised that the nurse responsible for the incorrect insulin dosage has been disciplined and his food trays will reflect the diabetic diet which he require at this time. I can only put my trust in the Good Lord that I will be able to find a drive to head west for an hour and a half and cross over into the U.S. at the Kingsgate border crossing into the panhandle of Northern Idaho. How my back will manage an 11 hour trip I truthfully do not know but I must get down to be at my husband’s side. It is only proper and fitting.
P.S. I noticed tonight that I had signed up shortly after the election for news from Jr and his minions and that since I arrived back in Canada I have NOT receive a single email. Don’t you think that is rather suspicious? Almost as if the state and federal governments conspired to make me leave the country.
Thanks in advance
Vicki Larsen
pinging regular list - sorry if ur getting this again.
News seems to be good.
cmon, buddy, you can pull through
Prayers for him and his wife and family.
Don’t eat the junk food they are giving you.
BonRad, thanks for the update.
Continued prayers for all including Mrs. Chief Engineer. Can you make it back to the U. S. soon?
Prayers will continue from here. Hope Vickie can get someone to drive her to be by Chief’s side.
Ten times the dose of insulin can’t be good. Prayers continue.
So far I have been unable to find anyone to drive me west, maybe I should contact some of the residents(FLDS) of “Bountiful” since so many of that community come to Cranbrook so often and that is the crossing they use to transport the child brides back and forth across the border into the U.S. or into Canada from the U.S.(sarcasm intended)
My family is not supportive and refuse to assist me but that is no surprise considering that I went there when I arrived back in Canada last June but was removed within 3 days and placed in a home for abused women by the Cdn Cancer Society because while I was on the phone with one of their reps she could hear the verbal abuse being hurled at me by my mother. I will have to contact a woman who has acted in my interests in the past here and see what she can suggest, she runs the Women’s Resource Center. Other than that all I can do is pray and continue phoning the Chief nightly to encourage him verbally. It is extremely difficult but I am focusing on him not myself.
I am so sorry to hear about your troubles, I wish I could help. I am praying here.
But, your idea about asking the polygamists isn’t the craziest idea. I do a lot with women leaving polygamy and know some of what is going on inside the groups.
Bountiful has actually split into 2 groups. Winston Blackmore’s group has (at least officially) renounced child brides and Warren Jeffs. He is considered a ‘reformer’, he is also much friendlier to outsiders and even allows his followers and family to choose monogamy (which is HUGE). I would not be surprised if they would be willing to help.
Also if you have a church up there, or a denomination you belong to, then you might want to see if they can help you as well, with ideas if nothing else.
Stay away from Warren Jeff’s group though, they are trouble.
Prayers sent for both.
Freep-mail me to get on or off my pro-life and Catholic List:
Please ping me to note-worthy Pro-Life or Catholic threads, or other threads of general interest.
I realize that, my Aunt, Audrey Vance has worked tirelessly to see that the women and children receive a proper education and can make informed choices. She has done this for many years. I am ashamed of my male cousin, her son, telling her to mind her own business instead of admiring her efforts. She has fought a long, tough battle with regards to the education of the children and is still fighting as I type this. She is an amazing woman. I know of only one of the women who managed to leave Bountiful and she ended up filing charges at the police station here in Cranbrook while I was still living in this area before immigrating to the U.S. but the woman I had mentioned earlier would move heaven and earth to help me as would any of those who work at the Women’s Resource Center. I will continue to pray for guidance and hope that my British Columbia I.D. card arrives soon which I will have to use along with my Cdn passport to cross the border. If I even mention I am going to visit my husband they would deny me entry so I have to be extremely careful of what I say in regard to their questions. It is a tenuous situation in all ways but extremely expensive healthwise for both of us. Hopefully I won’t lose too much more weight or a good wind will send me flying away! Stress tends to make me lose weight and I still have to find out the results of the bone scraping from my hip joint from December to see if the cancer has spread. I have often said to the Chief that given what I now know even with my diagnosis I would have been better off staying in the U.S. with him instead of us being played with by both the state and Federal governments and being told to go back to Canada. Too bad they don’t send the illegals home!
Prayers are up for Chief Engineer and Mrs. Chief.
Lord, we ask for healing to be granted this couple, to Thy glory.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, in the company of saints in heaven we pray, amen.
More prayers that you make it through this.
