Welcome to National Atheists Day!

Welcome to National Atheists Day. Why is it called that? I know it's not an official designation, but it could be.

You might be asking yourself...WHY would this be National Atheists Day? Quite simple, friend. Just look at the Bible, the Book of Psalms, chapter 14, and verse 1...

Psalms 14:1 (HCSB) The fool says in his heart, “God does not exist.”

TOPICS: General Discusssion; Humor; Other non-Christian
KEYWORDS: april; day; fools; ps141
So, now you see! Don't let life be a giant April Fools joke!

Have a blessed day!

I can understand your point, but this does nothing to persuade Atheists to accept Christianity. As a Christian, I see Atheism as a foolish position; however, Atheists also see the belief in God as foolishness. The question before us is there a way of reaching out to an Atheist and convincing him that belief in God is not irrational? People such as C. S. Lewis, Alister McGrath, and Francis Collins were all Atheists before becoming Christians. Finding out what convinced them to go from Atheism to Theism is a better approach than mocking Atheists.

Lee Stroebel (”The Case For Christ”) is another good one. I know with both him and Mr. Lewis, they researched the claims made by Christ as to His divinity, as well as the claims made by the Church. They both came to the realization that the claims were based on truth and they had to make a decision to accept of reject those claims.

It didn’t hurt any that they had loving people (friends & family) that encouraged them along the way.

Shouldn’t “separation of church and state” apply to the Religious Left?

Francis Collins is the head of the Human Genome Project, and he was influenced by Lewis’ writings. Alister McGrath has a doctorate from Oxford in molecular biology and another in church history. Both were avid atheists but they are now strong Christians. I am a campus pastor, and two-thirds of my congregation are college professors with advanced degrees. Many of those are in the natural sciences. This is why I find people such as Lewis, Collins, and McGrath important. They show that you do not have to be irrational to be a Christian.
