This phrase isn’t new, I know people have been praying for Peace in Jerusalem for thousands of years now.
However a text has been going around my daughter’s school in a movement with the title “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” The title is exact and that is a big theme right now. I do have to admit to being proud that my kids’ school (I live in a very rural, very Christian farming area) is taking this ‘movement’ to heart.
Just didn’t know if it was part of a larger movement.

You are correct, Dear FRiend.
It is not new.
It is from Psalm 122, verse 6 (LOL)
I have been doing this for thirty years, but started this particular thread a few months ago.
The Ping List is growing. Want to get on? :-)
Amen
God bless you, ltos! Thank you for the ping!! God bless the Holy Land of Israel! May there be peace at last!!
With Love, J
Sure! You can add me to the ping list.
I just found it so strange and refreshing that teenagers are forwarding reminders everyday to each other to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”
Prayers going up for the Peace of Jerusalem!
Reads like a great idea to pass along.
I just found it so strange and refreshing that teenagers are forwarding reminders everyday to each other to Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
It would be interesting for those same teenagers to know what is the result of praying for the Peace of Jerusalem. They may not really realize or know exactly what they are praying for.
One result (which is the main result for this prayer) is that the Messiah of Israel comes back to earth to establish His Kingdom on earth. You see..., He is the only One who can bring this kind of Peace to Jerusalem that people are praying for.
In addition, a "side-benefit" to the "Peace of Jerusalem" (if you want to put it that way) -- is that the world will never engage in war again. All the militaries of the world will be dismantled. All weapons will be destroyed. All the ways for doing war and even learning how to do war will be forgotten.
So, Jerusalem becomes the "center" for world peace, at that time.
That's ironic, because just before that, Jerusalem was the center for World War, at that particular time (yes, all the nations of the earth gather for war, in Israel). And right afterwards, Jerusalem becomes the "center" for world peace, a "world without war", and all peace flows out from Jerusalem to the entire world.
Now, that's quite a "turnaround" -- I would say.
To those teenagers..., I know how they get sometimes ... :-), one thing that would ring in their ears is that when Jerusalem gains the Peace, that all are praying for -- it's a world-wide peace that results, and the nations do war no more.
And so the nations learn war no more, and the verse that is quoted in front of the United Nations -- comes true.
They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.
So, just tell those teenagers that the "Peace of Jerusalem" means world-wide peace and no more war for the nations. And that this comes at the coming of the Messiah of Israel.
Here is that section in Isaiah Chapter 2 ...
1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord's house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And all nations shall flow to it. 3 Many people shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 4 He shall judge between the nations, And rebuke many people; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore.
Also, another section ...
Micah Chapter 4 1 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days That the mountain of the Lord's house Shall be established on the top of the mountains, And shall be exalted above the hills; And peoples shall flow to it. 2 Many nations shall come and say, "Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths." For out of Zion the law shall go forth, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 3 He shall judge between many peoples, And rebuke strong nations afar off; They shall beat their swords into plowshares, And their spears into pruning hooks; Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, Neither shall they learn war anymore. 4 But everyone shall sit under his vine and under his fig tree, And no one shall make them afraid; For the mouth of the Lord of hosts has spoken. 5 For all people walk each in the name of his god, But we will walk in the name of the Lord our God Forever and ever. 6 "In that day," says the Lord, "I will assemble the lame, I will gather the outcast And those whom I have afflicted; 7 I will make the lame a remnant, And the outcast a strong nation; So the Lord will reign over them in Mount Zion From now on, even forever. 8 And you, O tower of the flock, The stronghold of the daughter of Zion, To you shall it come, Even the former dominion shall come, The kingdom of the daughter of Jerusalem."
BUT, a "proviso" here, just so those teenagers are warned ...
There is a "pseudo peace" that is coming to Jerusalem, and the people of the world will celebrate, because they will think that "this" is the "Peace of Jerusalem" that everyone has been waiting for and that this is the beginning of world-wide peace, as a result.
However, it comes from one who is the "false Messiah" and he is the pretender, one who pretends to be the coming of the Messiah and to set up the Kingdom.
He does come to set up a Kingdom, but it's the one-world government that is evil, even though it will not appear to be evil to those who cheer its coming. This false and evil Kingdom will be judged by God and the true Messiah (who does establish the true "Peace of Jerusalem) will come to smash it and totally obliterate all signs of it from the world.
Thus, those same teenagers should be warned not to fall for the pretender, who comes, falsely, proclaiming this peace. The pretender comes first and establishes his kingdom -- and then the true Messiah of Israel comes, and smashes the pretender's kingdom setting up the 1,000 year Kingdom of peace and no war, until the time of the Great White Throne Judgment (of Revelation 20).
Amen.

Psalm 114
Tremble at the Presence of the Lord
This passage is truly inspirational.
A catalogue of Gods greatness and the wonder of His creation at the work of His hands.
These are rivers, and rocks, mountains and hills the same as we see before us today.
We tread earth which has little meaning, but at the presence of God even the basest of soil become holy ground.
Massive monolyths of stone and granite skip like rams at His presence, the waters know their maker and mankind sees testament of His glory.
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. (Rom14:20)
What great effect His presence has on our lives, and how it should be sought.

The Dentist ground some on the uppers. Mostly agreed that my gums etc. are too sore to wear them much before next Monday’s follow-up. So, will see how it goes.
Dad said it would be many months before I could bite off anything very substantial. Wheeee.
Thanks for all your prayers and caring.
I found that extremely fascinating, too.
It MUST mean something of that ilk.
There are no ACCIDENTS in God’s Word.

Wonderful - as usual! Awesome, actually!
Joining your prayer and the prayers of all those in this “little group” (which I imagine includes many within Israel and the Israeli government....!)
I join in prayer for Israel, Jerusalem and all God’s beloved.
Thanks for the ping and quote, Quix!
UriÂel-2012: Absolutely AMAZING, and cool! [Marking this down to make sure I review that section of Psalms tonight!]
BTW: I JUST got through writing several posts to others about how we should be praying in regards to Obama, and JUST mentioned people needing to read through Psalms and remember how David prayed in regards to his enemies. (I got a dose of fear and worry hearing my fellow Christians saying they are NOT praying for the well-being of Obama - which to me is WAY too close to praying for the opposite...).
Don’t know if this is “for ME” or for ALL of us... but obviously Psalms contains some very important information for us at this very moment in time. I’m not one to believe in coincidences, and maybe I’m guilty of reading too much into them — BUT, I’m more of a believer in God impressing upon us in little ways things He wants us to pay attention to. Given the fact that I just wrote the posts I did referring to Psalms, and then the next thing I see is this post with reference to specific Psalms — well, yeah, I’m feeling there is something more to this than coincidence [again whether this is something God is trying to tell ME, or whether it’s for “all of us” I guess is up to others to decide! :) ]
Oh my goodness. I have not been able to read all these threads in detail and did not know about your post of yesterday or two days ago mentioning World War I.
But today’s “American Minute” thread - which I posted in BREADKING NEWS - because in it we are asked to pray for our nation - TODAY - is about April 6, 1917 - the beginning of World War I.
Please read that thread: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2487461/posts?page=7#7
