Obama Bares His Soul for Easter Event
Beliefnet ^ | April 6, 2010 | DANIEL BURKE

Posted on 04/06/2010 7:41:39 PM PDT by NoCmpromiz

President Obama bared his soul before a cross section of Christian leaders at a White House Easter breakfast on Tuesday (April 6), where he spoke publicly of his faith in redemption through Jesus in his most personal terms since becoming president.

"We are awed by the grace he showed even to those who would have killed him," Obama said, pausing occasionally to glance at written notes. "We are thankful for the sacrifice he gave for the sins of humanity. And we glory in the promise of redemption in the resurrection."

Obama said the Easter breakfast, along with a recent Passover Seder and a Ramadan dinner last fall, was part of his pledge to make the White House "a place where all people would feel welcome." Presidential aides also said it gave Obama the opportunity to thank Christian leaders for their community service.

"For those who are wondering or have doubts about whether he is authentically Christian, I think today's message puts all doubts to rest," said the Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, another Houston megachurch pastor who attended Tuesday's breakfast.

Obama's father was a Kenyan Muslim-turned-atheist, his mother an agnostic, and his Indonesian stepfather an unorthodox Muslim. Caldwell, who is close to Obama and his predecessor, President George W. Bush, said he is galled by the number of Americans -- one in 10 according to a 2009 poll -- who refuse to believe Obama is Christian.

Caldwell was also one of about 20 black clergy -- from denominational heads to pastors who knew Obama when he was a community organizer in Chicago -- who gathered with the president privately before the breakfast.

Why do I think 0bamacommie's words are a crock of torofeces???

One of his handlers must sense the need for damage control... Pay attention to his actions, not his words.

Well, he is, in his humble opinion, the Messiah... I see that it is still about him, no matter what he tries to portray. Also noted that the blog post mentioned that he looked at notes. Wonder if TOTUS is broken?

Wonder if he has scars in his hands and feet. (We have all seen the picture of the scar in his head...)

I think that's where they inserted the program chip...

Maybe you think his claim of being a Christian is a large crock of male bovine feces because it IS!

We have video of him giving a speech to a large Muslim audience somewhere in the Middle East and clearly stating that he is a MUSLIM.

Maybe his recent remarks were made because he feels Rev. Manning breathing down his neck. Is he trying to circle the wagons with some gullible preachers?

Did he say that Jesus was the Son of God? The he died for our sins and rose from dead on the third day?

Ummm.... no.

Here's more of what was reported:

...the breakfast also provided a platform for Obama to speak openly about his Christian faith, even as a small but stubborn minority of Americans believe he is Muslim.

Obama did not directly address those doubts on Tuesday, but said: "as Christians, we believe that redemption can be delivered -- by faith in Jesus Christ. And the possibility of redemption can make straight the crookedness of a character; make whole the incompleteness of a soul."

The president also said that of all the Gospel stories, Jesus' last words on the cross -- "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit" -- especially resonate with him during the Easter season. "These words were spoken by our Lord and savior, but they can just as truly be spoken by every one of us here today," Obama said.

Well, I may hate his politics and what he’s trying to do to the country, but if he’s talking about Christ dying for sins and redemption then I can’t speak against his being a Christian.

That doesn’t mean I don’t want him out of office. And it does mean that he should know better how to treat Israel.

Obammy boy could not celebrate Easter on the traditional Sunday. Tuesday was not bad,— he had to recognize all his personal favorite religions first, which took up most of Monday, what with all the bowing and scraping toward Mecca and the customary cursing of whitey which took up most of the Sabbath.

"Did he say that Jesus was the Son of God? The he died for our sins and rose from dead on the third day? Or that Jesus was a “great prophet”?"

Bingo. Jesus (Issa) is revered in Islam, too, but not as the Son of God or as any part of any sort of Trinity. I see nothing in Obama's remarks that fails to dovetail with orthodox Muslim piety towards Jesus, their non-Messiah ordinary created human (but definitely a special guy, just nothing to compare with Last Prophet PedoMo, of course).

He could have delivered these remarks in his Cairo speech and they would have not caused a blink.

There are ways to profess your Christian faith.

You mean, like maybe living a life that shows you actually believe? Like speaking consistently as if you really believe irrespective of which way the wind is blowing?

Silly me.. Smoke and mirrors and nonspecific phraseology are easier because it is from the contents of the heart that the mouth speaks. And therein lies the problem with this poser...

"We are awed by the grace he showed even to those who would have killed him,"

Who writes these sentences for Obama?

This sentence as written means he (presumably Christ, note Obama's usage of the lower case "h" in referring to the Saviour of mankind) even showed grace to those who didn't kill him. (i.e. They would have killed him, but they didn't.) Christ was even showing grace to those who didn't kill him? Huh? What is significant about that?

I think most Christians would say "He even showed grace to those who would (were about to) kill Him," or "He even showed grace to those who killed Him."

No, I have never considered Zero to be a Christian. Black liberation theology is also pseudo Christian (like Aryan nation but for blacks not whites). But even then I am one of those who fully believes he is muslim.

Which also would explain his lack of Christology. Muslims consider Jesus to only be a lesser prophet.

And your post #29 is dead on about how a Christian would word this.

>>I think most Christians would say “He even showed grace to those who would (were about to) kill Him,” or “He even showed grace to those who killed Him.” <<

It is worse than that — He (yes, it is sad when people don’t know the difference between “He/Him” and “he/him”) granted both FORGIVENESS and INTERCESSION (a lesson that many do not learn) to His killers. This was accomplished though the grace of His Father.

Jesus didn’t SHOW grace — He HAD it.

Yes, and that passage does give us reason to examine the tree...

Luke 6:43-45 (NIV):

43"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. 44Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. 45The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

And it seems from various reports, that there are a lot of fruits in 0bamacommie's past but that has been the subject of other threads. (Sorry, couldn't resist...)

Yes it says prophets..but it can also be applied to non believers. Just because it says prophets does not mean it it’s not applicable toward everyone. How do you choose between evil and good? By judging the fruits of that person...their actions. But If it makes you happy...

“Actions speak louder than words.”

No, there are other verses that show how believers are to behave towards others (both believers and not). To apply that verse to everyone does violence to basic hermeneutical principles.

Therefore it would be improper to apply that to any group other than false prophets.

“Actions speak louder than words”, while perhaps biblical in principle is not a biblical text, nor does it work with the context of Matthew 7.

That said, I consider Obama to be a false prophet, so I do not object to Matthew 7 being used in relation to him.

James 2 speaks about works in the life of a believer. We are to judge that. We are commanded elsewhere to judge those who claim to be Christian by their behavior and their doctrine.

While we can’t see into another’s heart, Christians, true Christians will wear their ‘heart’ on their sleeves.
