Skip to comments.Hero says God showed him the way to missing girl, 11
Posted on 04/13/2010 10:13:40 PM PDT by Between the Lines
WINTER SPRINGS, Fla. James King said it was an act of God that led him to find Nadia Bloom in a thick swamp early today.
God directed me to her, King said hours after finding the 11-year-girl alive.
A day earlier, the 44-year-old University of Central Florida alum was part of a volunteer search crew that had been unable to find Nadia.
But at first light today, King, a military contractor, entered the woods armed with two cell phones, his shoes taped to his feet and some food and water to give Nadia if she was found. He prayed, quoted Scripture and looked to God to direct him to Nadia.
Then he called her name repeatedly as he ambled through the woods.
I knew the Lord wanted me to go back in as soon as it was daylight, King said. I needed him to direct my path. I asked him, would he guide my path?
The path led him to the middle of the swampy area between state roads 434 and 417 and the girl's gated subdivision, Barrington Estates.
I said, Nadia!' and she answered, What?' said King, recalling a moment about 8:30 a.m.
The missing 11-year-old was sitting calmly on top of a log. She didn't appear to be injured but was polka-dotted by bug bites, he said.
He scooped her up gingerly, praised God and then called 911 from the phone he knew was equipped with GPS.
King fed Nadia trail mix she was disappointed it didn't have M&Ms and she munched on an apple as they waited for rescue crews to arrive. They talked and prayed while they waited, King said.

This man’s story does not pass a smell test ...
Gods been working a LOT recently.
Things are happening -
Thanks for the great link!
I still cannot believe how this little girl stayed alive in that alligator infested swamp! As my daughter replied to my remark earlier today — ONLY GOD! Looks like He was watching over not only her, but has allowed this to be an experience in Faith for more than a few.
SO glad this story had a happy ending!
From the article:
King was quickly whisked away by law-enforcement officials, who debriefed and questioned him. Later, King said investigators acted professionally and that it was their job to check into things.
The police need to make sure that she is found, but also under no circumstances that are dubious, he said.
Investigators asked him how he got to the woods, how he found the child and how he knew where to look, King said.
Law-enforcement officers checked his car and looked into his background, he said. But they did not ask him for a DNA swab or to take a lie-detector test, King said.
Residents in the King’s old neighborhood praised their former neighbor.
He’s a good, honest, Christian man, friend Lewis Lineberger said. He’s a believer in prayer. He really does believe in all of that.
When asked about her husband’s heroic feat, Diana King said, This is James King. He is who he is. He’s got great faith. He’s an instrument used by God.
I do note however that the above information was provided to the press by King himself, and that there are NO comments from Law Enforcement directly.
My first thought when I saw him on the news.
It is a shame to consider any ill doing, but such are the times. The police have to be thorough.
I am just grateful the child is found alive and apparently unharmed.
Agree. I just found that his TV interview set off alarms for me.
We should all rejoice at the miracle of this little girl surviving five days in the most alligator dense area in the world when even the professional rescuers had failed and seemed to be ready to give up. The man who found her was given the great gift of being a direct instrument of God's divine mercy.
"Obviously, we are ecstatic. Unbelievable good news," Church pastor Dan Holland said, according to NBC Orlando.
Holland told the station that a search team of about 35 to 40 men worked through the night Monday. He said the searchers prayed, asking God to lead them to Nadia, then walked straight into the swamp and found her, NBC Orlando said.
"The hand of God ...," Holland told the news station. "However someone is found alive, I don't care. We are just ecstatic."
He went and searched the backside of the densest part of the forest, a part the cops themselves admitted they had not searched and were saving till last as it was considered a very remote possibility that an 11yo girl could make it back there herself. As it was, after she was found it took 40 LE carrying Nadia in a litter two hours to get back to the CP in the neighborhood. A distance that probably is around a mile.
And remember that he was part of a volunteer search team just the day before he found her. He went home that night and decided that the Lord instructed him to go back out that very next daybreak. He did and he found her. He found her after most of us had already committed her to the gators as Lake Jesup which borders this forest to the north, is the most heavily infested gator lake in the US.
Sometimes a duck is just a duck.
God never gives up on us. We give up on him. He is always anxious to help us.
I have to say, we need him now more than ever.
And there is no way King could have kept her somewhere squirreled away and then changed his mind and brought her back. There was an IR chopper above practically 24/7. Some folks who didn't belong back there were caught and escorted out. Plus there were cops on each side of the search area.
I suppose we'll find out if King is a bad guy in the next few days, but it looks to me that everything that has been side is on the level.
How come God directed him to get her out of there, but didn’t help her guide herself out of there? I mean, she got in there by herself, right? (Okay, I just had to point that out).
Neither is this, duh!
i’m not up on the details
Because God wanted her to be found by King. I mean, that's what happened, so that's what God wanted. (Okay, I just had to point that out).
You’ve got alot of God headed to you. Just hang in there, the tow-truck is on the way.
Read the Bible and ask why God just didn’t skip to Revelations and save a bunch of trouble, especially for Jesus.
And elderly man fell ill while in the fields behind his home running his hunting dogs. He was diabetic. Anyway, some of us in the neighborhood started looking for him while the search and rescue people were getting assembled and organized. Right about the time they all got there and had their search plan coordinated (1.5hrs), the man was found by a neighbor.
I understand there is a reason and method to the way they conduct their searches, but it's really not a reflection on their abilities if someone else finds the victim first.
It's not as bad as it sounds unless you forget to bring a mosquito net and a gallon of deet. In fact, right now it is downright pretty and while the no-see-ums are just starting the skeeters aren't that bad yet and the deer flies which are the WORST aren't out yet either.
Someday you may find that GOD will get into the smallest part of our lives, if we would let him!
I love what his wife says about him, I pray the same can be said of me.
This is James King. He is who he is. Hes got great faith. Hes an instrument used by God.
“I live in an alligator / eastern diamondback / skito / tick / redneck infested swamp.
It’s not as bad as it sounds unless you forget to bring a mosquito net and a gallon of deet. In fact, right now it is downright pretty and while the no-see-ums are just starting the skeeters aren’t that bad yet and the deer flies which are the WORST aren’t out yet either. “
ROFLMAO - only a Southerner would write that and this Southerner clearly understood every blessed word! ha ha
“Thank goodness she was found alive and safe. But if this is true, it almost makes you not want to get involved for fear of the third degree treatment.”
No different now than in the days of the Good Samaritan.
It sickens me that this guy is a suspect. My sickness is misdirected, though. It is our immoral society that actually sickens me. We are so jaded that a hero automatically is a perp. It is the first thought of many of us. I do not blame those of us that had the thought. I blame our sick culture that made the thought “normal and expected”.
This mans story does not pass a smell test ...
Too funny and a crying shame at the same time ...
On GMA this morning, George Stephonopolous (sp?) gave the guy as much time as he wanted to sing the praises of God, and how He alone is responsible for helping him find the girl. A rare sight indeed on network tv.
And here we are, doubting the guy.
God Bless the Rational Ones, when they come to the forefront on FreeRepublic!
Your words give me hope there is still a chance for sanity!
There indeed is a chance for sanity in our Nation; I have a master plan. However, my plan does not belong here, but rather on a CWII thread. It involves B.I.T.S. and B.L.O.A.T.
Thank you. Blessings to yourself as well.
Amen and Hallelujah to that.
I agree on needing him now, but am of Good cheer and strangely calm and ready to see what comes next.
Remember- We fight not against flesh and blood but powers and principalities.
Larger things are afoot than what we see.
And I know how it all turns out.
God Bless you and yours, and peace be upon you.
Well then, the Lord wouldn’t have been glorified nationally and proclaimed would he have been?
Or, it could have been a couple of other things.
In any case, I’m pretty certain he had his reasons. Always does.
Maybe its just to get you and I discussing him right now.
If this is true, then Praise God!
If this guy is lying, then I am beyond ticked (RF rules).
Well, I believe the James King version.
I can hear the gnashing of teeth in this thread.
God bless you and your family as well.
No it doesn’t pass the smell. The 911 call is creepy...
