Don’t read it! Case closed.
I guess it would be hard to spam a thread or a topic if you didn’t know it existed.
Well, before I’m zotted...
Heathens are not Christians, they’re polytheists and follow the gods of their tribe. The traditional religion of their folks.
Heathenry doesn’t have Scriptures. It has lore: From religious texts, to epics of the better folks of their tribe, to ancient texts dealing with how religious worship was originally performed.
Its focus is orthopraxy, not orthodoxy. Do the rites well more than “think the good dogmas”.
As for their libertarian community, the vast majority of Heathens I’ve met were libertarian.
The basic moral code is based on self-reliance, industriousness, loyalty to gods, tribe, family and friends, hospitality, honor and courage.
It doesn’t have a purity code or a concept of “sin”. Some things piss the Gods off, but that’s because they’re traitorous or cowardly, not because they are “impure”.
That moral outlook makes most Heathens predisposed towards libertarian thinking: “Do your own thing, don’t rub it in my face, don’t disrupt my folks and we’ll be fine.” and sorta conservative positions in economics.
I see, to which "tribe" do you belong and who are your "gods"?

Do any of these ancient texts have names?

That's not at all surprising.

Do most Heathen Libertarians live in their parents' basements?
Boy, that didn’t take long. He/she really ticked off the ‘God’ of FR... :>)
I know that in South America the traditional religions practiced there included such mundane rituals as human sacrifice. Does the traditional religion of your folks include such rituals?
That moral outlook makes most Heathens predisposed towards libertarian thinking: Do your own thing, dont rub it in my face, dont disrupt my folks and well be fine. and sorta conservative positions in economics.
I think you are a bit naive about historical heathenism. Most heathen communities were socialistic and paternalistic and the penalty for breaking with the traditions of the paternalistic leaders was, more often than not, execution or exile. Now can you name a historical heathenistic culture that was "Libertarian" and not socialistic or totalitarian?
Uh, I don’t think you’ll be getting a reply. That heathen went to wherever heathen ZOTs go...
“Do most Heathen Libertarians live in their parents’ basements? “
Not this one. He is living in his girlfriends basement. His parents kicked him out 6 months ago......
Well then, taking conversely, Mormons message to the world is their salvation is incomplete without Joseph Smith, a passport and some guy conferring the Holy Spirit to another person, by the laying of his hands.
Apparently, Christians cannot get into heaven without the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit can only reside in you by the authority of a man.
Protestants don’t believe in man’s authority. Our relationship with God, The Holy Spirit and Jesus is direct, personal and sacrosanct with no man’s authority to judge us worthy.
It’s not as if LDS doesn’t recognized that and take that message to Christians as possessing a salvation that has further pre-conditions.
What’s with the “non-christian” subforum phrase?
Christians are Christians and you saying that we are not, because of a lost authority, isn’t going to change that.
I just gotta say the use of the JimThor zot on this thread is, will, ironic! LOL
But notice he uses the phrase “non-christian subforums” where, now hold on,....Christians discuss LDS.
Who then is a Christian?
Oh, then he isn't the one I saw parking his shopping cart before going into the library to use the public PC's...
The last straw for his parents was when he maxed out all of their credit cards giving money to Ron and Rand Paul.
Islam is not a religion is a a cult way of thinking of taking over countries to suit their way of life.
it’s sole intention is to take over countries and impose their laws
funny thing is that they have even said so and eyt we still have idiots on the left sticking up for them and now we have muslims groups telling the white house they don’t want someone to pray at a day of prayer.
Hopefully we will get a president who will stand up to islam and say enough is enough, this is how we live and what we talk about and if you do not like that then please piss off
You need to go back to school.
You really do not possess cognitive thinking skills and your writing is atrocious.
Besides opening a thread calling Christians “non-christians” Isn’t going to go well.
I vote ZOT.
I hate when a zot is imminent.
Oh thank God. The zot already happened.
Fine, let me sharpen my athame on you.
I used my JimRob “Thor” graphic for that very reason.
What's a ZEE-an?
“The last straw for his parents was when he maxed out all of their credit cards giving money to Ron and Rand Paul. “
His efforts are useless. He's either elect, or he isn't.
Well, before Im zotted...
Something tells me you are a regular FReeper - who knows how the game is played - and was out for a little Friday silliness of your own.
But as far as zot threads go, this was weak. Do better next time, eh?
I grew up in a Catholic family. I converted to Asatrú at age 14. Told my parents at age 16.If you Google (or Bing, if you prefer) Asatrú, you'll find that it's a weird concoction of Norse mythology and Germanic/Druidic paganism, with a dash of racial identity beliefs (think Aryanism). Think of it as "Germanic Hinduism" and you'll get the right idea. The Norse self-identification makes post #22 and post #56 all the more hilarious!
Yeah, they were pissed. They eventually let me be: I was not converting back, and forcing me to go through the motions without actually believing would be pointless in both our faiths.
Stop it, stop it, stop it....You're Killing me!
Does the Lord High Protector know that you're using humor on a thread that hasn't been officially declared a Neener Hijack!?! And you the official "Inquistor in Chief" or "Keeper of the Rosary/Grail/Whatever"....shame
Such a lack of attention to protocol! :>)
Punch line from my favorite preacher joke: “When I got to the one about thou shalt not commit adultery I remembered where I left my bicycle.”
I miss Louis Grizzard, who IIRC was a Methodist.
Don’t ya just love that word, ‘Heathenry’? I’m stealin’ that one fer shur. No, I’m series. This one will be hugh!
“Oh, then he isn’t the one I saw parking his shopping cart before going into the library to use the public PC’s...
...and restroom. “
Well, he might have been in-between girlfriends........
A famous Viking explorer returned home from a voyage and found his name missing from the town register.
His wife insisted on complaining to the local civic official who apologized profusely saying, "I must have taken Leif off my census."
“Fine, let me sharpen my athame on you.”
Barney Frank: “Athame on you, Darks! “
Got it he he was probably sent over here by Stormfront.
So it would seem....
That wasn't meant to be funny, I was genuinely curious about where "Heathen Libertarians" typically live.
When they aren’t in prison.
Or Marvel Comics.
