Undercover at Thomas Road: An Interview with Gina Welch
Crosswalk ^ | Trevin Wax

Recently, I posted a review of Gina Welch's book, In the Land of Believers: An Outsider's Extraordinary Journey into the Heart of the Evangelical Church.

In case you aren't familiar with the book, it tells the story of how Welch faked a conversion experience, got baptized, and spent two years at Thomas Road Baptist Church [Jerry Falwell, Jr., Liberty University].

[This young lady spent two years at a church in which she "faked" being born again?]

[Certainly there were those who knew something was wrong].

A tare in the wheat. Leave the tares alone. God will deal with them in His time.

This woman set out to write a book and enjoy a profit. She carefully chose the high profile church known as Thomas Road Baptist Church to accomplish her goal. I suspect that after her year of deception, she left Thomas Road with more doubt about her resolve regarding atheism than she did about improving or enhancing her rejection of Christianity. God's Word has a way of doing that if one only reads it.

If you want to appreciate what an awesome God we worship just Google Louie Giglio and introduce yourself to his DVDs. You are in for a treat whether you are a believer or not.

I was never an atheist, but I never had a personal relationship with God until age 43. I'm now 58. I don't know why He waited till I was 43, but I accept it was His timing. I know now that I was such a skeptic that I would never accept His works unless I saw them in my own way. I considered myself a Christian but had no idea of His deep love for all of us until I saw, with my own eyes, and out and out, no doubt about it miracle. We cannot know what this woman will do with what has been presented to her until she gasps her last gasp. God calls who He calls and the rest will be shattered shards on the floor. Who can question the potter?

A born again Christian knows exactly when they were born again and knows they were dead before. A dead person doesn't know they are dead. They can claim life, or anything they want, and truly believe it if they are dead.

Based on the two I endured ("Laminin" and "really, really big stuff"), I'll pass. I found Giglio's gosh!-wow! manner extremely offputting.

I do not write this young lady off... One day God may open her eyes and give her a new heart.. it is in His hands, even if she thinks intellectually it is in hers
