Has Noah's Ark Been Found on Turkish Mountaintop?
Fox News ^ | April 27, 2010

A group of Chinese and Turkish evangelical explorers say wooden remains they have discovered on Mount Ararat in eastern Turkey are the remains of Noah's Ark.

The group claims that carbon dating proves the relics are 4,800 years old, meaning they date to around the same time the ark was said to be afloat. Mt. Ararat has long been suspected as the final resting place of the craft by evangelicals and literalists hoping to validate biblical stories.

Yeung Wing-Cheung, from the Noah's Ark Ministries International research team that made the discovery, said: "It's not 100 percent that it is Noah's Ark, but we think it is 99.9 percent that this is it."

I'm wondering why they are so eagerly pointing out that carbon dating, a very scientific process, points out the age of the ark, yet they don't say word one about the complete lack of any scientific evidence of a worldwide flood 4,800 years ago.

“...the complete lack of any scientific evidence of a worldwide flood 4,800 years ago.”

There’s plenty of evidence. Use Google.

“complete lack of any scientific evidence of a worldwide flood 4,800 years ago.”

A false statement.

...Compelling evidence that there was a Great Flood, as told in the Old Testament story of Noah's Ark, has been found far below the waters of the Black Sea by an American expedition..

As Ken Ham says, “If there really was a world wide flood, what would the evidence be? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth. And what do we see? Billions of dead things, buried in rock layers laid down by water all over the earth.”

well if it were only a few thousand years ago, I’m not sure there would be rocks formed from it.

But not from a single flood occurring simultaneously everywhere on Earth that ends all life except one boatload in the Middle East, during the timeframe between the end of the last ice age and the bronze age. And that would be difficult to miss.

You have me wondering why you would post this when you seem to be a doubter in the Great Flood. I'm not one to squabble about how many years back it was, but their is plenty of fossilized sea life on the slopes of mountains to say there was.

What? THIS is news?????? Old story. It's been stuck in the glaciers forever and this isn't the first carbon dating, either. It's gopherwood, etc., just like the story.

As for no evidence, well, every indigenous culture out there has in it's artwork the story of a flood. Not scientific, but it's there. I thought the fossil record in the middle east has been studied and there was signs of flooding. Maybe it was wishful thinking on the Discovery Channel or something.

"Search is your FRiend."

The poster has a responsibility to do a TITLE search. He does not have to see if the subject has been covered under other titles. This headline title did not have a previous occurrence.

Liberal TV shows such as Nova, Discovery and History Channel have had shows on a world flood, Noah's Ark and lots of historic discoveries. You can probably find episodes on HULU and other on line sites.

Why would they have to say any thing about evidence of a flood, when the evidence is every where you look, like shells on the desert floor. the flood may not have covered the whole earth but as far as Noah was concerned it did, it covered his world.

There was certainly a flood which created the Black Sea, but it was more like 8,000 years ago. I believe the Black Sea flood is what inspired the Noah story. It would have wiped out most if not all of the population in the region at the time. There is also evidence of civilization on the floor of the Black Sea. Perhaps that is from where the Israelites originated and only a few survived. Passed down orally for generations and altered a bit with each, we get Noah’s story. Who knows what really happened, but it only took about 300 years for King Arthur to go from a brutal warlord to the romantic character with Camalot, a round table and knights in shining armor. There is likely truth to Noah’s story, but I doubt a man named Noah built a large ship and saved every species on earth. Not when there were humans and animals living across the world in different civilizations at the time.

Genesis 8:4 (King James Version)

4And the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the mountains of Ararat.

The Hily Bible(KJV) does NOT say that the Ark rested on THE Mr Ararat, it says that it rested on the MOUNTAINS of Ararat.
