Archbishop Sheen"We are living in the days of the Apocalypse - the last days of our era...The two great forces of the Mystical Body of Christ and the Mystical Body of Antichrist are beginning to draw up the battle lines for the catastrophic contest." - Archbishop Fulton John Sheen.

St. John Cantius, ChicagoWe attend a spiritually dry parish M-F (the priest sometimes doesn't even show up!, and we have to high-tail it to another parish down the street -- which is not as ideally located -- to catch communion), but on Sundays, we try to get to a Tridentine Mass/Novus Ordo in Latin in Chicago, not because Jesus is any more present in the Eucharist than He is in the "dry" church, but because, when a respectful Mass is witnessed, it leads to other heightened spiritual desires (more frequent confession, etc.), and as these are indeed "catastrophic" times, all the help one can procure for their souls is a positive. Here's a link to Traditional Latin Masses (there might be one in your area) if you are interested in attending.

Suggestions by which to fight the "battle:" Attending Mass (any valid Mass!), receiving Reconciliation, Adoring Our Lord, recitation of the rosary, wearing sacramentals, reading holy works/writings of the saints, blesseds, and popes, fasting, and so on ...

I've also read that listening to Gregorian Chant helps chase the demons away ...

But Obama continues to get a lot of support from the Catholic bishops.

Actually, we are blessed with three Extraordinary Form masses on Sundays (St Mary Mother of God - DC, St Alphonsus - Baltimore, Our Lady Queen of Poland Parish - Silver Spring), and, if I was working in DC, St Mary's has a daily Tridentine Mass. As it stands, my parish's 6:30 AM NO Mass is actually pretty reverent and...on time...

Yes, our 6:15 a.m. that we have to rush to when our close parish's priest doesn't show is actually reverent as well (some 100 people in attendance, and their pastor was just appointed auxiliary bishop of Joliet), so we are fortunate too, but once we witnessed the Tridentine (I noticed we have three different parishes within driving distance that offer it on Sundays), well ... you know ... it's pretty special and definitely more respectful ...

Have you links to photos perchance of your Extraordinary Form Masses in your area?

Show me the original thesis, not someone with an agenda's interpretation of it.

Are you Catholic? This is a Caucus thread. You are not allowed to post if you are not Catholic.

“the Koran is a total religious law, which regulates the whole of political and social life and insists that the whole order of life be Islamic. Shari’a shapes society from beginning to end. In this sense, it can exploit such freedoms as our constitutions give, but it cannot be its final goal to say: Yes, now we too are a body with rights, now we are present [in society] just like the Catholics and the Protestants. In such a situation, [Islam] would not achieve a status consistent with its inner nature; it would be in alienation from itself”.

Very upsetting. . . Prepare for November 2, 2010! Reminds me of the new emigre' from Russia I knew in 1996 lamenting, "Why did you Americans vote for a socialist? Don't you know what they do?"

Her(??) job now is representing the government before the supreme court.

Almost sounds like Obama wants her out of the Solicitor General position.
