The Consecration of Mary Glasspool as an Episcopal bishop on Saturday was incredible. They had odes to Mother Earth, random pagan rituals, a smudging ceremony to increase their relationship to plants or something, a smidge of ancestor Worship thrown in, and don't forget the dancing Girls. And, of course, there's guitars. There's always guitars.
And by the way there didn't seem to be a whole lot of Jesus at least in the first hour or so that I saw.
You can see the video here.
AFP reports:
A 56-year-old lesbian was ordained as a bishop by the Episcopal church here Saturday, reigniting an issue which has caused bitter divisions in the Anglican movement worldwide.
Mary Glasspool became only the second openly gay bishop to be consecrated by the Episcopal Church -- the governing Anglican body in the United States -- after Gene Robinson was ordained in 2003.
Glasspool was consecrated by the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles in a lunchtime ceremony attended by around 3,000 people at the Long Beach Arena, along with another woman priest, Diane Jardine Bruce.
What the hell is wrong with these people? Oh, wait I answered my own question.
There was a time when religion called us to serve God. Now it calls to manifes political correctness. Prayers for our Episcopal brothers and sisters.
That is the main reason I left the Episcopal Church long ago.
Come out from among them-St. Paul
"In any case, smudging is a ceremony that must be done with care. We are entering into a relationship with the unseen powers of these plants, and with the spirits of the ceremony. As with all good relationships, there has to be respect and honor if the relationship is to work..."
The early Church did not ordain women priests because of the continuing struggle its leadship had with the mother goddess (Cybele, Isis, Astarte, etc.) and the despicable activities of their orgiastic sects. The Episcopal church, which is an anti-Christian recrudescence, is an abomination in the sight of orthodox Christians and its heresy should anathamatized by all believers.
Guitar or organ, so what ?
Most religious ceremonies trace back far enough into ancient times that shorn of the religious significance of the proceedings, they look peculiar and often even silly. From an outsider vantage I’d agree with the substantive criticism of the modern version of the Episcopal church, but ceremonial trappings aren’t a critical issue.
How long do I have to watch this before they do something marginally Christian?
It looks more like a community theater play.
It looks some some freak show to me.
In the course of my studying various aspects of Native American liturgy, I’ve wrestled with the idea of smudging. I’ve never seen it done much, so just on the theoretical level:
I wouldn’t have a problem with it *if* it were done right-—with “right” being defined as the same way it would be done with a thurible and incense. Someone wants to incense the altar and congregation with a feather and cedar/sweetgrass instead of a gold vessel...meh...ok.
When we start talking about unseen powers in the plants though, we are getting dangerously close if not right in the lap of New Age BS. This is where the flags have to go up. The other problem is that this kind of thing is becoming a signature cultural practice of the “Wanabe” tribe.
Well, they are forgiving the Bishop of her sins...by allowing a homosexual woman to be in the Priesthood.
This statement proves their contempt for Christ and His teachings. These are the words of a pagan/atheist.Period.
Back to the Stone Age.
Can cannibalism be far behind?
... and my friends wondered why I left. Disgusting!
