Being a DC area native, I have fond memories of visiting the still-in-construction cathedral as a kid. I also happened to be there when President George H. W. Bush laid the last capstone "officially" finishing it's 80+ year construction (of course no cathedral is ever completely finished...). Still the Episcopal Church unfortunately is leading many people to Hell...and this is extremely sad.

One interesting part of the architecture--added very late (in the 80s or 90s) to me symbolizes TEC's direction:

This sculpture above the main entrance to the cathdral is called, ironically, I think, "Creation" even though it bears no resemblance to the biblical account.

It does however bear a resemblence to this account in the Apocalypse of St. John (Revelation):
"And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire." (Rev 20:15)

Great sculpture.
But you ain’t gonna’ see something like that at a church here in
flyover country.

Even at an Episcopalian congregation!
