It's actually irrelevant in this case anyway.
Oh, I know no ordination could take place. But if perchance the pretended Bishop were someone who had a shred of respectability left, it would be useful to expose him. It happens once in a while, like that Bishop who went off and participated in the Moonie wedding. I was more curious about the supposed Bishop than about the girl playing "dress-up."

Or listen to blue grass at the old Mill Restaurant.
(That probably dates me.)

Kieth Dempster (He of the multiple BMW motorcycles) owned the original Mill restaurant on East Burlington, named for a coffee grinder. It was really a converted home and too small to serve the nightly gatherings.
Dempster closed the old Mill and bought a restaurant closer to the campus on East Burlington that could handle over 150 pizza and hoagy eaters.
I heard a couple years ago that Dempster had sold the place for big money. Both Dempster and his wife were “ample” people, upwards of 225 pounds +.
It was a ironic sight to see them on their black BMWs, sometimes with a black sidecar, cruising IC...

Yep, remember seeing the sidecar occasionally. I think the place closed a few years ago but someone reopened it as a “historical preservation” site or something. IT’s been a while since I’ve been to downtown IC.

Is the ‘Complete Freak Botique” still downtown (Things, Things and Things) ?
To: Eric in the Ozarks
I can’t imagine that store not there! It was like the uniform store for all the folks who hung out on the Pentacrest during the day and the ped-mall at night.

One 15 minute visit to T,T&T and you'd smell like patchouli all day.

Is the Complete Freak Botique still downtown (Things, Things and Things) ? Perhaps that's where Bridget Mary Meehan bought her pectoral cross, ring, mitre, crozier, and pallium...

Perhaps that's where Bridget Mary Meehan bought her pectoral cross, ring, mitre, crozier, and pallium... She probably stocked up on incense too, the church stuff is so old school.

It was a good place for knee high leather booths and argyle body stalkings.

“argyle body stalkings”
Wow— even scarier than argyle body stockings!

I stood on the Pentacrest lawn in Spring, 1970 and watched as Iowa Book & Supply got trashed.

"The only frustration she had was the fact that she could not continue to do her job once the patients needed sacraments. The Catholic Church required her to send for a priest, but Kusner noticed that her patients wanted to continue talking to her instead.
Wanted to talk instead of recieving a sacrament!!
Do you really think they ever that devout?--Nooooo!
I recognized that I was doing a role of a priest, she said. It took two years for me to recognize that this is my calling.
Hey Lady!
Christ who is God set this up not you!
I have more respect for an independent church by lady pastor
But to borrow over the catholic tradition.

Kieth was one of Iowa City original ‘Bohemians.”
I think he graduated from Grinnell College.
Everybody knew and liked Kieth.
Wife and I were staying at Naniboujou Lodge on the Minnesota north shore when two couples on BMWs from Wisconsin pulled in.
I bet my wife a beer that they would know Kieth and know about the Mill.
They did.
