The Revival Prayer Club - Day 1 - An call to pray for independence from sin.

On this 234th anniversary of this nation's independence, it is clear now more than ever that America has no hope of being sustained unless the people of God join together in united prayer before God the Father and Christ Jesus His Son and make intercession for this nation. There have been many times in our nation's past where things were very bleak. If the Lord had not been on our side, we would have perished. And just a few obedient souls reaching out to Heaven were part of a great move of God that changed everything.

This prayer thread will replace the Pray for the Republic and Obama prayer thread. This does not mean however that it replaces praying for our nation's leaders as we are commanded to do.

If you are a born again Christian and feel the leadership of the Holy Spirit to intercede on behalf of this nation, then you are welcome to join in and pray. I limit this prayer thread to Christians, for the desire is that it reflect the unity which brothers and sisters in Christ have with one another. We love our non-Christian country men and women; but, for this thread it needs to be consistent of those with similarly held beliefs.

The format will be thus. It will consist of a Scripture portion, a revival quote of some type, and the first post being a prayer. Following the prayer, readers can post their own prayer or just say "Amen" if you are in agreement with the thoughts expressed in prayers already posted.

I appreciate those who participated in the Pray for Obama threads; but, I feel led in a different direction now. I hope you will join me.

Does it grieve you my friends, that the name of God is being taken in vain and desecrated? Does it grieve you that we are living in a godless age...But, we are living in such an age and the main reason we should be praying about revival is that we are anxious to see God's name vindicated and His glory manifested. We should be anxious to see something happening that will arrest the nations, all the peoples, and cause them to stop and to think again.

Father God,
I come before You today in grief for my country. 234 years ago, a group of men, the vast majority of whom were believers, set forth to break free from the chains of bondage and into the freedom that only You provide. In the document that defined nation's founding, they put in writing "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." Now, 2 centuries later, we have shown ourselves willing to sacrifice those unalienable Rights to the gods of convenience and selfishness. Regarding Life, we have not cherished it. In fact, we protect the destruction of it, much to our shame and judgment. Our Liberty, we are willing to sell for entitlements and in our stupidity we give to those who would be tyrants over us the full reins over our freedom and do nothing as we see it vanishing more and more every day. Regarding the pursuit of happiness, we have turned such a noble thing into licentiousness - forgetting entirely that no man can be truly happy without You. Lord, it is a dark day in America - probably its darkest to date, yet, I fear darker days lie ahead. Ultimately, the things we have done in this country over the past 50 years may indeed be our certificate of death. We don't want it to be so. We want America to return to her former greatness. But, my gut says that is the way we are heading and it breaks my heart.

Your judgment, we surely deserve. No other nation has had so much and has been so ungrateful for it. Your mercy has been poured out on us for so many years already. I dare not ask for you to save America for that would be presumptuous that You would overlook sin and not punish what is deserved. What I do ask Lord, is that you be glorified in Your people and that You work in our hearts so that we are right before You. I ask for a true Revival in these last days where Your people will give up all of their worldly vanities and focus solely on You. And in Reviving Your people, I know You will change and awaken the World as well. Prepare our hearts Lord with a longing for You that is so intense that no matter what darkness befalls our land, we will not be moved. Lord, help us to stand firm and bold for You. Help us to be Your witnesses on the earth. And help us to overcome the attacks of Satan and his minions.

Give us Jesus, Lord. Take the world, and give us Jesus. More of Him, less of us. More of Him, less of me. And, I pray these things in the name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ, Amen.

Holy God,

You Who did not withhold Your own Son from us-—the most precious gift You could possibly give-—will surely grant us Your very best as we cry out to You on behalf of this nation. None of us is deserving of any blessing, but it is in Your heart, Father, to bless those who call You Lord. We are Your people-—the sheep of Your pasture-—looking to You for that which we need: direction, protection, provision, and love-—all of which You freely give. We know that we are blessed and loved by You, and we lift up hands up praise and thanksgiving for all that you have done. Our confidence is not in earthly men to solve the problems of America. Our trust is in You-—the Author and Giver of life. We place our prayers for restoration at the foot of the Cross, knowing that You never forsake Your people. Blessed are You, our God, and great is Your faithfulness. In the Name of Our Savior, Jesus Christ, Amen.

O Father, we cry out that the Sweet Spirit of Revival will sweep across this nation, stirring the hearts to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Let the message of redemption ring from the pulpits of Your anointed ones ... let Your children freely proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ ... stay the hand of the enemy as we look for that harvest of souls, for You are not willing that any should perish. Be exalted, O Lord, be exalted. Amen ...

Father, I stand in full agreement with blogger about the urgent need to repent of our sins, Lord, I for one come to You as a sinner in need of Your forgiveness and mercy, fully aware that the process of connecting to You on a day by day basis, takes faithfulness and steadfastness, and for those to be realized in my life, I ask You for help and strength. In Jesus mighty name, I pray, Amen and amen

Father, do not forsake Your remnant. Keep us aligned with Your instruction and reveal Your strategy to us. We lift up this nation to You and stand on Your word that the government be upon Your shoulders. We do not look to the east nor west; we do not look to our jobs or our bank accounts; we do not look to our political powers for direction, but it is only to You that we place our trust.

Father, You see all, know all, and can do all. In times past, You have always brought about economic calamity in order to open our eyes. Lord, I confess that the eyes of your remnant have been opened wide. Lord, we see no way to get out of this desolation. Yet we know that with You, all things are possible. I ask that You impart Your strategies to us. I ask that You raise up Your army to take dominion over this land. And that You return this nation to a place that will be that lamp upon a lampstand that stands as a testimony to Your glory. Father, have mercy upon us. Awaken us, remove our complacency, and light a fire in us. Fill us with passion for You, and return us to the destiny You spoke into us before the Creation.
