A lawmaker in Michigan is calling on the state attorney general to investigate the arrests of four Christians at a recent Arab festival in the city of Dearborn, saying they were just "engaging festival goers in conversation about religion on public property." The call comes from state Rep. Tom McMillin, who has introduced a resolution to that effect. His concern is over the arrests of four people during the Arab Festival in Dearborn, where police have been accused of enforcing Islamic law. The officers arrested the Christian missionaries and illegally confiscated their video cameras, which were being used to record the events, according to the Thomas More Law Center of Ann Arbor, Mich., which is representing the defendants. Officials in the police department with the city of Dearborn declined to comment to WND. "Both the constitution of Michigan and the United States guarantee the right of every person to enjoy free speech and practice their religion freely, just as these men were doing," McMillin, R-Rochester Hills, said. "Those rights can't be just pushed aside for political correctness or to accommodate certain circumstances or locations," he said. McMillin has been in touch with the "Dearborn Four" and has agreed to attend their arraignment in Dearborn on July 12 as a show of solidarity. "These men should not be punished for exercising their inalienable rights," McMillin said. The Detroit News has reported that officials for a pro-Islamic advocacy organization have accused the Christians of not playing by the event's rules. The report said members of the Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations accused the Christians of passing out missionary literature at the festival in violation of rules that required them either to pass out the materials from a "paid booth" or "outside of the festival area."

Was it a Muslim Festival, or an ARABIC Festival?
If it was Advertised as an Arabic Cultural Festival, then Christianity SHOULD have been represented as a very important part of the Cultural History and Identity of People of Arabic descent.
Just sayin.
Well, I am just sayin things are scary and saying a whole lot when Christians in this country are arrested with bullying tactics during a peaceful public gathering.
They are indeed.
Not just scary. Disgusting too.
It was an arab festival, arabs who are former muslims need not apply. They are criminals under Islam.
Think about this.
You know that GAY PARADE in San Francisco, where attendees are often seen having sex in complete view of the public?
Imagine if some ‘Christians’ went there and handed out pamphlets. I bet Nancy Pelosi would have them arrested.
Public Sex, OK.
Handing out Christian Literature, Not OK.
Muslim Prayer and Prayer Rugs in School, OK.
Christian Prayer in school, Not OK.
Black Muslims in uniforms and with weapons keeping white voters out of pooling booths, OK.
Handing out pro-Conservative literature in front of pooling booths, Not OK.
Media and Political figures calling Tax Protesters, ‘tea-baggers’, OK.
Stating that those same Media and Political figures are blatant flaming homosexuals, Not OK.
Some might see a pattern in all this.
Then, they were just practicing Arabic culture. No Christians are tolerated in or around Arabic events. They are either shot, hung, or jailed.
It's an 'ethnic' thing, ya know?
All of Islamic Arabic (including Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq and Iran, and much of Northern Africa), was once Christian, and converted to Islam by the SWORD.
So the connection of Christianity to Arabic Culture is much older.
But, of course, you are correct about the fate of muslim converts to Christianity in Muslim Controlled Countries.
Yet the few Arab Christians that I have known (mostly from Lebanon and Syria)can trace the lineage of their families Christianity back to the evangelical efforts of the original Apostles.
They have been hanging in there for 2000 years.
God Bless Them! Theirs is a Hard Road!
Actually nobody should be singled out, but Christians and the family in particular are being targeted. One had better know how to circle the wagons and hold their own, and continue to speak of Christ regardless.
Amen.
Any Christian Person, especially of Arab Descent, knows EXACTLY what we are dealing with.

Look at what I received in my e-mail. How it happened I know not. I never sent any mail to the mayor of Dearborn.
Wow, Nan. That is a magnificently crafted and very long letter. Not only that, it “drops” some heavy names (Josh MacDowell), provides links to youtubes, it uses some very erudite and patriot language.
Which makes it extremely scary, ESPECIALLY since YOU never wrote to these folks in the FIRST place!
My oh my oh my.
What a marvelous and extraordinary example of taq’iyyah, in its most developed and refined form!
If Dearborn were a Paradise of diversity, and all Faiths lived on the Planet together, smiling, having Interfaith Festivals, singing Kumbayah, and then went home and all worshiped their separate gods and goddesses in peace, and never flew jets into skyscrapers, beheaded people, burned down synagogues, opened fire on their fellow soldiers, or carried bombs in their shoes and underwear, this would be a noble letter indeed.
Just sayin’
But then I am one of those crabby folks who has a big purse. Big enough to hold my Bible, A copy of the Constitution, and, well...you know.
I thought it ought to have it’s own thread, but I cringe at the idea of posting a thread. I almost never do that.
It’s not too difficult.
Just don’t post it in “Breaking News” LOL.
General Chat, or even Religion, are good places.
Then ping your FRiends, and ask them to ping their FRiends.
It is a very long letter though. You might want to except it, and link the rest like you did here.
It is interesting, but I have NEVER seen such a long letter from a municipal official. That is why I am convinced that they don’t have a leg to stand on. They “doth protest to much”!
I know how to post, I just don’t like to.
Ah!
Well that makes all the difference LOL!
I like doing it, and have to CONTROL myself!
hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Gidoudahere....:o)
