Ignorance of Scripture is Ignorance of Christ - Gospel of John Bible Study

Who do you say that Jesus is? Do your thoughts, upbringing, religious background, or personal beliefs about Jesus line up with God’s Christ of the HOLY SCRIPTURES? You might ask, “Well, does it make a difference? My friend, I say unto you, it surely does!

TAKE THE JESUS CHALLENGE

The Bible is the final AUTHORITY on who Jesus Christ is. It is God’s absolute instruction manual and blueprint for life. If you reject the authority of the Word of God, my friend, you are doomed. There is no hope for your lost, sinful condition. The Bible teaches that “All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). All! You need to know the True Savior, not a make-believe one. It’s that serious. Don’t let your deceitful heart and pride ruin you and keep you from God’s redemption found in Jesus Christ.

Ignorance of Scripture is Ignorance of Christ!

Jesus said, "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life; and they are they which testify [speak] of me" (John 5:39).

The purpose of this Bible study is to bring a person through God’s simple plan of salvation using only the Gospel of John. When a Gospel of John is handed out to a person, it is a good idea to give the person this study along with it. The study was written in such a way (question/ answer format) that the person can see for themselves what the Bible really says about who Jesus Christ is, what He has done for us, and the necessity of putting our faith in Him.

For the person doing this study, please answer the following questions by looking up the Bible verses which are given, all of which can be found in the Gospel of John.

the scriptures rock, but let’s also realize just as importantly:

1 Timothy 3:15:

“But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the **church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.”**

Of a truth...!

My friend, Here is another great truth... The “church” is an organism not an organization.. Romans 12:5, Eph 1:22-23, 5:30, Col 1:18 etc...

the apostles were appointed by Jesus, 12 to be exact, to carry out his mission.

so Jesus has many, many followers, but instead of relying on some sort of ‘community of believers’ he called out 12 specific indivuduals to guide his flock. Even in Jesus’ time there was a structured church. the church could not exist if Jesus had not been around to start it himself and he did, but he left it in the hands of Peter (Mt 16:13-19).

and you can see there was a church, with a specific structure of leaders that were called by God to lead the church. This is the Catholic definition of church.

Now, if the church is founded upon the leaders then it is safe to say that “the church” can also mean “the leaders” or “the one’s with teaching authority” called the Magisterium.

by the way, why did you change the scripture to say ‘a’ truth, when the word of God clearly says ‘OF’ truth.

You are radically changing the plain meaning of the word of God.

why?

Or is it all those called out by YHvH ?

A study of the word "church", in the Koine Greek : Ekklesia.

Was the "church" started at the YHvH commanded
Feast day of Shavuot (pentecost) as some say ?

or

Did the "church" exist earlier ?

Using the LXX as a guide we see that the Ekklesia
is first used in Deuteronomy 4:10

the earth, and that they may teach their children.'

John 10:30 I and my father are one.

That teed off some Jews let me tell ya!

John 1, 8... gets into that.. that is still the problem today... but one day they will understand (Zech 12:9-14)

Always remember we (goys) have a great debt to the Jew (Romans 9-11) and that the first fruits of the called out assembly i.e., “the Church were Sons of Abraham. We were never taught that as children in the church along with a great many other Biblical realities that I attended. Psalm 110 - So many biblical truths in the New Testament point to this great Psalm! He's Almighty God.

One was Judus.... who did not have a saving relationship to Him... Paul was added in later as he tells us.

True... there was leaders ship… but what I gave you was the BIBLICAL DEFINITION of the church. Which one will you follow after? That is the question we all must ask our selves.

Actually.. the “church” - the Called out assembly.. Was born on Pentecost 50 days after the resurrection of Christ Acts 1-2

When Israel as a nation rejected the Kingdom offer and Kingship of their Messiah and crucified Him under Gentile hands (Matt 27:25, Daniel 9:25-27)... The “church” was established under Christ on Pentecost by the Holy spirit (Acts 1-2) made up solely of Jewish men and women. Gentile were later added to the BODY later on Acts 10 and Romans 9-11 gets into that in much detail. He spoke about the church briefly but none of his disciples knew what He was talking about. They were waiting for Him to establish the Kingdom with Israel at the head of the nations (Acts 1).. that was their understanding. Remember that Peter, John, Andrew, James etc… were all JEWS….

No offence my friend… study your Bible a put aside the Catholic traditions. In the end that is what Almighty God will go by. (Matt 7:21-23, 15)

It’s been said before, if all that had survived of the New Testament over the ages was the books of John and Romans we would still have all we need for a complete NT doctrine. You can’t beat them. It’s difficult to read John 6 and believe that Paul had probably never read it when he wrote Romans. Then you remember both had the same author.

Okay, then stop using Catholic quotes. The following, “Ignorance of Scripture is Ignorance of Christ” is from a Catholic saint - St. Jerome.

Excellent question! Read the next 2 verses. Besides, I'm not sure your quoting the scripture correctly.

Phil 2:6 Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God. (King James)

This is God humbling himself, lowering himself to the status of man so he could do what was required to save us. The love God has shown us knows no bounds and is extremely beyond reproach.

God is Jesus.

God is Jesus.

G-d says otherwise.

Deuteronomy 4:39 Know therefore today, and take it to your heart, that the Lord, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other!

Deuteronomy 32:39 See, now, that I, I am He -- and no god is with Me.

I Kings 8:60 So that all the nations of the earth may know that the Lord is God and that there is no other!

II Kings 19:19 Now, O Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all kingdoms on earth may know that You alone, O Lord, are God

Isaiah 40:18 To whom then will you liken God? To what likeness will you compare unto Him?

Isaiah 40:25 "To whom then will you liken Me, that I should be his equal?" says the Holy One.

Isaiah 42:8 I am the Lord, that is My name, and My glory will I not give to another. Neither My praise to graven images!

Isaiah 43:10-11 "You are My witnesses," declares the Lord, "and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may know and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, nor will there be one after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no Savior."

Isaiah 44:6-8 This is what the Lord says, Israel's King and Redeemer, the Lord Almighty, "I am the first and I am the last; apart from Me there is no God! Who then is like Me? Let him proclaim it. Let him declare and lay out before Me . . . . Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are My witnesses. Is there any God besides Me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."

Isaiah 45:5-6 I am the Lord, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God; I will strengthen you . . . . In order that they know from the shining of the sun and from the west that there is no one besides Me; I am the Lord and there is no other!

Isaiah 45:21-22 . . . Who announced this from before, who declared it from the distant past? Is it not I, the Lord, and there is no God apart from Me, a righteous God and a Savior; there is none but Me. Turn to Me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other!

Isaiah 46:5 To whom shall you liken Me and make Me equal and compare Me that we may be alike?

Isaiah 46:9 Remember the first things of old, that I am God and there is no other; I am God and there is none like Me.

Isaiah 48:11 . . . My honor I will not give to another.

Hosea 13:4 I am the Lord your God, Who brought you out of Egypt. You shall acknowledge no god but Me, no savior except Me!

Psalm 73:25 Whom have I in heaven but You? Earth has nothing I desire besides You.

Nehemiah 9:6 You alone are the Lord; You made the heavens, the heaven of the heavens and all their host, the earth and all that is upon it, the seas and all that is in them, and You give life to all, and the heavenly host bow down before You.

I Chronicles 17:20 O Lord, there is none like You, neither is there any god beside You, according to all that we have heard with our ears!

Ok, those are some excellent verses. Jesus is another name for God. It's the name ABOVE all the other names for God such as: LOVE, SPIRIT, THE ETERNAL ONE, I AM, ADONAI, ELOHIM. Oh, BTW Elohim is plural, basically meaning God(s)...go figure that one out!

Why do you think some wanted to stone Jesus? It wasn't because he was bad mouthing them! Jesus would have been blaspheming himself if he wasn't God. Here's a question for you: Who can give eternal life?

Words mean things.

I can show you a plethora of verses were Jesus claims to be God. And those verses you are pointing out just reinforce Yeshua's claims.

I understand you may not believe Jesus is God, but there is no denying he claimed to be the ONE and ONLY God.

Thanks for those verses, they are great!

my friend... don't get offended.. I did not say that in a condescending manner or demeanor.. I just suggested that you study the Holy Scriptures and see the contradictions in Catholic theology. I was born and raised Roman Catholic.. it wasn't until I got serious about God and my relationship to him that I started reading the Bible and saw for my self the great contradictions...

what do you have to lose....?

You wrote:

“my friend... don’t get offended..”

I’m not offended so much as disappointed.

“I did not say that in a condescending manner or demeanor..”

That isn’t the problem.

“I just suggested that you study the Holy Scriptures and see the contradictions in Catholic theology.”

I have studied the scriptures and have discovered there are no such contradictions. Your assumption that I have never studied scriptures and your assumption that there are contradictions between the faith and the word is what I have a problem with.

“I was born and raised Roman Catholic..”

I don’t care. That sort of a comment always seems to be a preamble to an expression of ignorance (and I am not trying to offend you).

“it wasn’t until I got serious about God and my relationship to him that I started reading the Bible and saw for my self the great contradictions...”

And there is the ignorance. I have studied the scriptures in some detail. I do not claim to be an expert, but I certainly have invested more time and resources (and prayer certainly) to the study of God’s Word than many other people have. What I have discovered again and again is that the Catholic Church has been right all along.

Jesus is another name for God

Funny, G-d never mentions that...ever. Wouldnt you think that G-d, lets say at Sinai in particular, would say....Here is the law, the first of the Ten commandments is you shalt have no other gods before us? Instead of me? Or hey, I am the LORD your G-d, I am three-in-one? One day I will send my Son, who is really me? No...

So, we are expect to believe this: G-d gives us the Law, tells us He is alone, the only Savior etc, tells us in Deut 30, we can do the Law, it isnt in heaven, not across the sea, but near to us the we may DO IT! Tells us the Law is forever, Ps 111 (and many other)......THEN 1500 years later, says See! You cant do the law! (Even though I said you could). And I am sending my self in the flesh, (even though I said I am not a man) And he is my son and me, so forget about all the times I declared my singularity!

So, G-d lies to us about doing the law, lies to us about his nature, tricks us into floundering with the law for 1500 years....Only to send a perfect god-man being to cheat and do it perfect....this is the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob? The G-d of the universe?

Then, in a final act of perfidity, God then says, oh in the end of days, I will rebuild my Temple (Ezek 43/44) and restore the sin sacrifice, (Ezek 44)

Jer 33: 16In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness. 17For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel; 18Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

Zech 14: 21Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein..."

And why would G-d do this, when after Jesus came he told us to stop doing the Law (Paul), after Jesus was the once-for-all sacrifice? Sacrifices return? The Law returns?

And I shall give them one heart, and shall put a new spirit within them. And I shall take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances, and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God. (Ezekiel 11:19-20)

My servant David will be king over them, and they will all have one shepherd. They will follow my laws and be careful to keep my decrees. (Ezekiel 37:24)

Even the Goyim? The nations?

And many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths," for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:3)

19O LORD, my strength, and my fortress, and my refuge in the day of affliction, the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the earth, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited lies, vanity, and things wherein there is no profit.

ADONAI, ELOHIM. Oh, BTW Elohim is plural, basically meaning God(s)...go figure that one out!

You dont know any Hebrew, do you.

There are many words in Hebrew that have a plural suffix -IM and are a singular entity or thing. Example: Water..Mayim.... Sky...Shamayim... Life...Chayim...

It in no way implies multiple lives, skys or waters....just like Elohim is one G-d, with implied vastness or greatness with a plural ending.

Here's a question for you: Who can give eternal life?

HaShem לַיהוָה and Him only. No Man. And the man from Nazareth gave no one eternal life. He may have claimed to be G-d but G-d says He is alone. And as listed above, the Christian narrative is contrary to scripture. Otherwise, G-d would not have said the Law is forever and Sacrifices would not be returning.

Shalom
