Mad Mel
Standing on my Head ^ | Monday, July 19, 2010 | Fr Longenecker

Go here to see just one of the houses actor Mel Gibson owned, and has now sold at a knock down price of $28m. Then ask yourself if money and fame will make you happy. Poor Mel Gibson. He really did have everything--not only the wealth and fame and the rewarding career, but the stuff that matters: faith, family, friends, fellowship.

Then he throws it all away in a classic mid life crisis fuelled by booze. Now the gossip is that he has sold this fabulous home in Connecticut, that his house in Malibu is up for sale and he's moving back to Australia with his wife Robyn. This sounds good and bad.

Back with his wife? Let's hope and pray.

And also that he makes "Lapanto". It'll keep ya busy, Mel, and you're the one to do it.

There go I, if not for God’s grace, and my complete and total lack of talent!
Sincerely, pray for Mel, he is just human, and does express himself without pretense.

Boy, you keep popping up! I agree, there but for the grace of God go I...and I’m a woman!

I heard someone offer the suggestion that his rage was actually aimed at himself for all the wrong choices he had made in recent years. I remember thinking ‘how do you(as the father) walk away from a family like that?’ It would say a lot about his wife if she took him back.

Solve your problems--slay your demons--when you're young. Get professional help if necessary. When you're old it's too late. Once this is done, you will have defended yourself and your family from the vicissitudes of fate--be they wealth or poverty, gain or loss--whatever.

Slay your demons when you're young. Be the best person you can be. Rely on truth. Avoid self-deception at all costs. This is the best gift you can possibly give to yourself, to your family and friends, and to the people of the world.

To be the best person you can be--with demons slain--is the best thing you can possibly do for other people.

Do this, and everything else will take care of itself.

If all you do thereafter is set an example, that will be enough.

It’s Sunday. Remember him and his family in your prayers today.

The Battle of Lepanto took place on 7 October 1571 when a fleet of the Holy League decisively defeated the main fleet of the Ottoman Empire at Malta. The Holy League was hopelessly outnumbered and the miracle of Lapanto is attributed to intercession of the Holy Mother through the people saying the Rosary.

This Turkish defeat stopped Turkey’s expansion into the Mediterranean, thus maintaining western dominance, and confidence grew in the west that Turks, previously unstoppable, could be beaten. The feast day of Our Lady of Victory is dedicated to the memory of this battle. The name of that feast has since been changed to Our Lady of the Rosary.

I’d go see this one, if they keep the language clean.

CT home sold. Rumor is that Mel has already sold this beautiful home in CT and that his Malibu house is for sale. The sernity of the grounds of this estate are at odds with the former owner's turbulent life.

His house in Connecticut has been for sale since 2007 or 2008. He’s currently filming a movie and he’s not moving to Australia. This gossip was originally from the Daily Mail and was debunked.

Mel definitely has talent. “We Were Soldiers” was perhaps the best war movie I’ve ever seen. But he clearly has a lot of problems and demons. Even if the tape was edited (a big maybe), the language and attitude that Mel was spewing seemed truely psychotic to me. He came across as someone who had a combination of paranoia, hatred, and no respect for women. I’ll probably watch his films on DVD (via Netflix), but that’s about it.

Well I have to say that Mel has better tastes in homes than most celebs. Both homes are gorgeous. Apparently this is his Malibu home listing.

Nice place. The only way I could have peace of mind living in a place like that is if it was mortgage free, and accounts had been established to pay the property taxes, insurance, utilities, and wages for the staff to maintain it for the next 30 years. Otherwise it seems like it would be a major headache.

Anyone can use the money, but no one NEEDS the fame.

If Mel was NOT an actor and worth 300 million, would radar online give a care about Mel's rants from that ONE DAY?

It is the fame that gets them IMO.

There are a lot of people out there who need to see more of the family oriented films he did the best.

Mr Gibson could go on for years making films. Indeed, if Roman Polanski could get away with drugging and raping a 14 year old child, why can’t Gibson get away with having a fidelity, temperance, wrath and continence problem?

amen to that! Here you have a man with millions and now he has to sell it. I for one do not understand why everything for the rich has to be so grandiose because it does come with a price especially the upkeep. I guess I am too poor to understand. lol
