Hey, let us know the name of it when you find it.
If we’re talking about Central American victims of government violence, then don’t forget Archbishop Obando y Bravo of Nicaragua.
But his persecutors were the saintly Sandinistas, so he wasn’t a politically correct victim according to Ed Asner, Jimmah Carter, Jane Fonda and others at the time.
Yes. I had the pleasure of hearing Richard Wurnbrand speak before he passed away. Incredible story —of his own persecution.
No dope on a cursory look, will try when have more time. Pub date was something like 1952 or 3 tho.
The Roman Catholics have been persecuting Christians and Jews since Constantine took over Rome and placed his own people in the church.
And guess what they are still at it
In Mexico

In Colombia

And in Brazil they are threatening to do it also.
They even treated my family and me to dinner one evening, just the two of them. An evening to treasure.
Boy, you were sooo lucky (or perhaps I should say “blessed”). I have read one of his books, but meeting him would have been so cool.
The Knights of Columbus have produced posters of Father Miguel Pro and the other “Cristeros” martyrs from Mexico. Most of them, priests and laymen, were Knights.
Are these Mexican martyrs of today or did they live in the past? I was thinking of highlighting what has been going on in this generation to keep people’s attention on current events.
Mostly from the 1920s and 30s. I agree that more should be done to publicise the ongoing martyrdoms.
Oh my goodness, I can't believe you were so blessed to know the Wurmbrands. I first discovered VOM back in the late 1990's and bought every book written by both of them and every DVD of Richard that I could find. I desperately wanted to meet them and was so sad when I realized I missed the opportunity by less than a year. I really feel like Richard was as close as those of us living now would get to meeting a disciple like Paul or Mark who had a relationship with Christ unlike anyone else currently living.
BTW, my tagline has been the same for many years - it's the VOM website :)
Yes I have been subscribing for years.
They have a cool thing on the site where one can write to imprisoned Christians in their own language.
And who has been making Martyrs of true Christians for centuries with persecution of Bible believing grace believers?... Burning men at the stake, banning English translated Bibles into common language... etc.
VOM ping
That doesn't prove your religion is true.
Note that all of the subsequent Catholic-Protestant heat could have been avoided had you simply posted: “It’s been happening to Christians for ages”. After all, Catholics are Christians, right?
Yes, It has been happening to Catholics for ages. It has also been happening to Orthodox Christians for ages. The 20th century was especially bad for Orthodox Christians.
Protestants, too have been persecuted for centuries around the world.
As a non-Protestant I am a strong supporter or Voice of the Martyrs because they help and have us pray for persecuted believers of all Christian persuasions (including Catholic).
I am disgusted with the way this important thread has been hijacked by Catholic vs Protestant bashing. Look, as an Orthodox Christian I could say that I don’t have a dog in this fight. But actually, I do. When Christians bash Christians, the Evil One has little to do except smile.
The Enemy is attacking all over the world: Islam, Hinduism, Communism, etc. VOM covers all of it.
We HELP the enemy when we engage in narcissistic self praise and attack other believers EVEN IF THEY ARE WRONG!
Please everyone, WAKE UP. Stop helping our enemies.
