New York (ANI): Mel Gibson’s father, Hutton Gibson, has called Pope Benedict XVI a homosexual. Hutton, 91, called Pope Benedict XVI a homosexual during a radio interview, according to TMZ. In the interview, the host asked Gibson if the Catholic Church has become “politicised” to the point that it cannot address issues like homosexuality.

Gibson responded that the Church would not address homosexuality because “half of the people there in the Vatican are queer." When asked if he thinks that the current Pope is among those homosexuals, Gibson said: “I certainly do,” reports the New York Post.

Gibson also called the Pope “a slippery character” and claimed he is part of a conspiracy to destroy the Catholic Church. Hutton Gibson has advanced several conspiracy theories related to the Catholic Church, the Holocaust and the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks...........

There does seem to be a competition between the two, doesn’t there?

Well of course this is news ... Mel hasn’t made any statements lately, so lets find out what his father thinks! Yeah - that will be good for a couple of cycles!

I’m not sure it matters other than a desperate need to keep the crap in the news.

The only people who seem to be deriving any pleasure from it are left-winged Catholic bashers.

Yup. Slow news day and Gibson has been fishing with 2 of his sons. In that case ya gotta manufacture controversy.

It doesn’t take much to manufacture controversy when you speak with old man Hutton Gibson. He’s loonier than a jaybird. This is a good part of the reason that Mel Gibson is so screwed up. He was indoctrinated in conspiratorial thinking from a young age, and I think there is a gene defect in both of them. Their collective heads aren’t screwed on right.

This one is dangerous.

Why did the Catholic Church allow this to happen in the first place?

I have no doubt that some in the Church heirarchy and some higher up in that hierarchy are homosexual. After all Bishops and Cardinals were once Priests. It stands to reason that a few of them were homosexual.

This thing with homosexuals didnt start yesterday, it’s been a problem for years and the Church glossed it over.

Big Mistake, it should have been nipped in the bud. Those who allowed it to continue are guilty of inflicting grievous harm on the Church, and the Pope has to carry the burden of part of that responsibility, but he must answer to God for it, not to us.

Looking the other way when you see something happen leaves you with a part of the guilt that it happened.

Mel’s father put his suspiscions into words that, according to Church doctrine are the same as Treasonous and excommunicable, but how many others have had that thought fly through their minds, and deliberately shut it out.

Be honest. The thought never ran through your head? Not once?

Ain't that the truth!

Gibson the younger has admitted that he's (Mel) bipolar.

Okay, I’ll be honest. I don’t think I have ever thought that Benedict was gay - at least not more often then I thought about it for posters who bring up things like that on FreeRepublic.

Look at the time frame of when theses perverts entered the Preisthood. It was during the early 1960’s when there were two things you didn’t do to embarrass your family. You weren’t Gay and you didn’t dodge the Draft. So, how do you avoid the Draft without coming out? You hid in a Seminary. Not only did you not embarrass your family. But you were put on a pedestal.

I can think of a lot better things to say when one’s 91 years old ... (does he think he’s still a teenager with a lifetime ahead to repent?) ...

Well, not until now. He does wear lovely outfits and fabulous hats.

Seriously, though, I really have never even considered the Pope’s sexuality one way or another, and frankly, it kind of creeps me out that some do. And I’m an agnostic prottie.
