Catholic parish (in Alaska) to host Episcopal Church ordination of gay rights proponent

Katharine Jefferts Schori, the presiding bishop of the Episcopal Church, will ordain an Episcopal cleric from New York State as the Episcopal bishop of Alaska on September 4. The ceremony will take place at a Catholic parish in Anchorage.

Until recently, Lattime was a member of the Episcopal Diocese of Rochester’s Committee for Gay and Lesbian Ministry, which “seeks to further the cause of recognition and legitimization of lesbian and gay relationships within the church and in civil society.” Lattime is married and has three children.

“Catholic churches are consecrated or blessed buildings which have an important theological and liturgical significance for the Catholic community,” the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity notes in its 1993 Directory for the Application of Principles and Norms on Ecumenism. “They are therefore generally reserved for Catholic worship. However, if priests, ministers or communities not in full communion with the Catholic Church do not have a place or the liturgical objects necessary for celebrating worthily their religious ceremonies, the diocesan Bishop may allow them the use of a church or a Catholic building and also lend them what may be necessary for their services.”

There are four Episcopal Church congregations in Anchorage.

This is morally wrong! The article does not mention the name of that parish. I suggest we contact Most Rev. Roger L. Schwietz, Archbishop of Anchorage.

“There are four Episcopal Church congregations in Anchorage.”

Why, then, soil a Roman Catholic church with this abomination?

How the church has changed ... When my late (Catholic) wife was young, she was not allowed to participate in her brother’s wedding in an Episcopalian church.

The archbishop’s email address is ab.schwietz@caa-ak.org

I trust mine will not be the only email he receives on this matter.

When my late (Catholic) wife was young, she was not allowed to participate in her brother’s wedding in an Episcopalian church.

That was no doubt before VCII. When I attended Catholic school back then, we were told never to enter a non-Catholic Church .. for any reason. I abided by that principle until a non-Catholic friend was going through tough times. On one of my visits, I suggested she return to her church. She pleaded with me to accompany her. I don't recall if it was an Anglican or Episcopal Church but I still recall sitting in that pew and being scandalized when a woman in a flowing dress performed a liturgical dance in the sanctuary. Bells rang, flags were raised as Sister's elementary school admonition immediately came to mind. We need to return to that mandate!

Who knew the Gay Episcopal Church still existed?

I suppose even if it didn’t, the media would need pretend it did.

Is it any wonder there is such confusion in the church?

The Catholic Church is supposed to be solidly against abortion and homosexual marriage, not to mention female pagan bishops. Then they invite Dr. Schori to ordain another “bishop” in a Catholic Church. It really is amazing that the Church still functions as well as it does with as many people trying to destroy it from within.

Since Notre Dame allowed the HMFIC in charge of Baby Killing, Hussein Obama to get a special award from them and seeing jenkins still in charge over there while he prosecutes real catholics for trespassing, Practically nothing the church does surprises me.

I am even more happy that people take their faith seriously enough to be upset and to arms in this situation!

We appreciate all the prayer support!
