Michelle Obama made dusk visit to Great Mosque of Granada during Spanish trip [Built 2003]

While President Barack Obama was “forcefully” endorsing the Ground Zero Mosque, Michelle Obama was paying homage with her presence to the Great Mosque at Granada, which overlooks what was once Islam’s most important outpost in Europe, the Alhambra palace in Granada.

There is no doubt about the influence of the Great Mosque of Granada overlooking Alhambra. One Spanish guidebook states that the Alhambra is to Granada what St.Peter’s is to Rome or St. Mark’s Square to Venice.

Michelle Obama and her nine-year-old daughter, Sasha, visited the Alhambra Mosque at dusk on the second day of her visit to Spain, one day after Barack had celebrated his 49th birthday without his family with Chicago friends.

Built in 2003, the Great Mosque in Granada, like the mosque planned in the shadow of Ground Zero, was born in controversy.

“The land on which the mosque has been built was bought 22 years ago, but city authorities continually objected to the planning proposals.” (Victory News Magazine, July 17, 2003). “When it was finally accepted that the land could be used for religious purposes, objections were raised to the layout of the building. Planners had to rethink the height and design of the building’s minaret but opposition to the scheme, which received financial backing from Libya, the United Arab Emirates and Morocco, gradually subsided.”

I am going to Spain in two months and have ABSOLUTELY NO desire, plan, time — you name it — to visit a mosque of any kind.

Fine...visit a mosque in Spain, or any place of worship anywhere in the world because it is an attraction or historically significant, or a landmark...

But, please tell me when any of this family visited, out of interest or pleasure, any Christian Cathedral, Church, Chapel. Right in DC is the beautiful, internationally praised and architecturally significant, Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It is the largest Roman Catholic Church in the United States and North America. It is also one of the ten largest churches in the world.

Have we heard of one or any of the Obama's visiting there? Have they exposed their daughters to the beauty and sanctity of that landmark?

For those who may not know, it’s part of a large Islamic project run by a group similar to Rauf’s, the marabitun, aimed at converting Granada into a Muslim city.

And when you listen to "moderate" Muslims trying to convince the American public that there is no reason to worry, just remember what al taqiyya is. To put it plainly, it's "good works" which earnes Muslims salvation, and consists of deliberately deceiving or lying to the non-Muslims.

So, if you begin to feel swayed by "moderate" Muslim talking heads on TV, or begin to doubt all the "islamophobes", remember al taqiyya and also remember that Muslims see 0bama as one of their own, whether he is a practicing Muslim or not. Just think: the ultimate al taqiyya would be to have everyone convinced he is a Christian.

When exactly did he become a Christian. His mother was a communist/leftist. His father was a Muslim who embraced communist ideas, but was buried with full Islamic rites. His grandfather was cradle Catholic who converted to Islam. 0bama's first and middle names are Muslim names. There is nothing Christian in his background.

al taqiyya

Who come up with these idiotic spelling translations from Arabic? Does some quivering liberal egghead just think they're sooo bleepin' smart?

We don't need them destroying our language as well. In American English, a "Q" is always followed by a "U"....like "Qur'an" for example.

Annoying words like "Al Qaeda" and "Al Qaida", "Qatar" and others should be spelled Alkida, and Kattar, or Guttar. If that offends them they can go pound sand.

Next thing you know we'll be seeing spellings like:

Qatie Qouriq

Gimme a break...support redneck spelling of islamic terms.

The cathedral was built in 1492. That’s history. A mosque built in 2003 is not.

Actually, there is no hard and set rule on how to transliterate from Arabic. It's pretty much up to an "egghead" to decide. The Quran" is also sometimes spelled the Koran, which is how I spell it.

Maybe the Arabic "kh" is a guttural sound which doesn't correspond to our k, so they substitute. I find the same variability in spelling when it comes to Biblical Hebrew, so much so that the same word doesn't even look the same in some of the variants. Then there are the apostrophes (') which I have no clue how to pronounce.

It's bad enough as it is; adding "redneck" spelling would make things even more complicated and difficult to track, imo.

Good, "koran" would be exactly the type of "redneck spelling" I was alluding to.

Maybe the Arabic "kh" is a guttural sound which doesn't correspond to our k, so they substitute.

Well then why don't they use "KH", that's self explanatory. Like Khadafi, they also spelled it Gaddafi. Now it's "Qaddafi".

The lone "Q" doesn't sound like "KH" or even have a definition. "KH" doesn't violate our language..."Q*" does.

It's bad enough as it is

I agree, but I don't spend a lot of time worrying about how to spell the sounds my dog makes either. They should just spell it like it sounds...woof.

Is this what she wore to visit the Mosque? (it was the photo accompanying the article)

Isn't she supposed to be covered up? We would ALL appreciate it!

Cool, you went to Spain?

Surprising how the MSM manages not to mention little things like this and, instead, just parrots “Obama is a Christian.”

Cordoba Mosque converted to Catholic Cathedral.

Too bad Michele did not go to view The Great Mosque of Córdoba, Spain, begun 786, then converted into Córdoba's Roman Catholic cathedral in 1238. The Catholic Cathedral is known locally as La Mezquita —The Mosque.

Aerial view of the Great Mosque of Córdoba, Spain, begun 786, doubled in area in the 10th century to 585 x 410 feet, with 1,200 columns supporting horseshoe arches, patterned with colored marbles and other stones. Although it was converted into Córdoba's Roman Catholic cathedral in 1238, the building is known locally as La Mezquita —The Mosque. Yeah, they used to spell Khadafi but then someone decided it wasn't "Islamic" enough.

Well, I don't know who decides how we transliterate other languages. Personally, the Chinese transliterations are equally annoying. Foreign words and name should be transliterated in such a way that Americans pronounce them, not how they are spelled in the original.

Who cares how they are spelled in their native language! Chinese used to be transliterated so we could pronounce it, then they switched to current transliteration rules and Peking became Beijing, and Mao Tse-tung became Mao Zedung. Chinese has a lot of half tones that cannot be reproduced in English, so the best thing is to spell them as close as possible. But the Chinese insist on oding spelling acrobatics which are totally meaningless to an English reader, such as the fine differences between the Chinese shi and xi.

So having the Wookie visit it is not a good thing, and certainly not innocent.

“The mosque is a symbol of a return to Islam among the Spanish people and among indigenous Europeans that will break with the malicious concept of Islam as a foreign and immigrant religion in Europe,” says Abdel Haqq Salaberria, a spokesman for the mosque and convert to Islam.

“It will act as a vocal point for the Islamic revival in Europe.”
