It is the laity who can—and should— take it out to the “marketplace.” We are many and we are the ones who have the extended outreach and the opportunities to be pro-active and to be such on a one-on-one basis—something one Bishop cannot do and whose “job-description” isn’t directed towards that particular work meant for lay people.
It is the laity who have the civic duty to be informed, to be pro-active, to make a difference in the work place and their homes and neighborhoods, to be accountable. That’s the proper role of the laity.
The good Bishop is not just “re-stating facts & observations & his opinions”. He’s leading his troops like a good general and his troops have the corresponding duty to engage in battle.
