Ed Decker? Oh puleeze.

More anti-Mormon(ism if you prefer) propaganda... different day.

Undecided readers,

As an ex Mormon-basher, I invite everyone to read all of the multitude of Anti-Mormon attack threads and/or comments on this board and then do some research on your own from more than one side of the “issues”.

Is what all these Mormon attack squad people parrot day in and and day out on these boards true? Don’t take their word for it. Find out for yourself. Put forth some effort. You do want the truth right? Prove it.

Read both sides! Talk to both sides! Not just mine. Not just theirs. Make up your own mind.

Here’s a few links to get your started from a different viewpoint. The vast majority of the issues brought up can be found and addressed at http://www.fairlds.org/ I have found but here’s more.

Just wondering if you picked up the subtle references to Mormonism that were at this event?

I did not have access to the live broadcast of the event. I believe Beck sincerely loves this country, but I am underwhelmed by this event because it is declared to be a 'spiritual' event lead by secular people, and a polytheistic mormon to boot. I cannot, as a Christian, honestly say that I pray to the same God Beck prays to. How, then can we claim a common 'spiritual' basis.

My gut feeling - this is more a cult of Beck that has tapped into "good feeling" evangelicals who are blind to mormonism. Again, Beck's religious world view is mormonism - all his religious speech must be evaluated with that in mind.

Beck certainly loves this country but he has recently appeared to put a “spiritual” element into his broadcasts which is concerning, the deception he is under could very well lead others to follow suite into his Mormonism.

As we could see by the Patriotic t-shirts and US colors amply represented I think the public saw this as a Patriotic event. Most Patriots have a belief in our God and our country connected and founded on that belief.

The problem is as you have stated....additionally my concern of his attempting to unite all religions...though this under the banner of devotion to God...it does matter the God he is referring to.

One of the praying speakers kept praying to Gotz...I am hoping that was simply poor speaking skills but I listened carefully and he continued praying to Gotz.

I am grateful Beck seemed to have galvanized people....in a Patriotic sense. But caution about him and his intentions from a spiritual perspective is concerning. I'd prefer he stay on course and leave the spiritual matters to those who know better than he about matters of faith. Currently he is in the dark about such things.

Exactly.

The True God will not share His glory with a false image and I think it is prophetic of the times that Christians who should know better, blissfully sweep that aspect under the rug just because the term "God" is used.

Years ago, mormonism tried to make itself part of the Promise Keepers movement and almost succeeded until the watchmen in the group raised the issue - mormons are not Christians and we should not be yoked with them. I was on the Washington mall that day with a million+ other Christians of all denominations on our faces praying and repenting of the sins of this country. Fast forward to today - this event has the appearance of a pep rally where God loves the USA just because we are the USA - with no evidence of repentance for allowing things to get this way. God allowed the leaders we deserved because of our collective unrighteousness and I saw nothing in this rally's reports of serious repentance - just a lot of human effort and works to bring the country around.

Jeremiah 18:9 And at what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant it;
10 If it do evil in my sight, that it obey not my voice, then I will repent of the good, wherewith I said I would benefit them.

That's true...the closest Beck came was saying the US had made mistakes...to leave the past behind and move forward. .....but I was irritated when he mentioned we'd made mistakes and that over again and again...sounded to much like Bo on his international tour. I was just very cautious listening....and will continue to do so. You know as well as others do that deception is just that and oftentimes appeals to the senses to entice. People are generally not aware until they have swallowed the bait..and Mormonism works that way...and attracts those who are emotional people...and accounts for Becks attraction as well. So we shall see...we are entering the times of deception which will increase more and more. People need to be grounded in what the scriptures say within the context they are written and not believe every TV/Radio Personality who quotes them...I am afraid many will indeed be misled.

You’re probably right Greyfoxx...it is just we know that the Mormon church is playing footsy with those of Islam...that other faiths are attempting to make nice with Islam needs to be made clear who they are. Hinduism has already opened their doors to every faith imaginable...and the push to unite the faiths is moving right along. The players in that are becoming more clear.

Soory to tell you this Paragon Defender, but the real issue is rational people vs. conspiracy theorists. These conspiracy theorists will argue the ideas of this Ed Decker all day, even when its obvious that most of us regular Americans would never let the Mormon Church run our country, with or without that Ed Decker conspiracy theory junk. I doubt many of these people can be reasoned with, but thanks for encouraging us to try and read some of the thought-provoking material that the Mormons have to say.

Similar beliefs does not confirm association. This is a fallacy. As someone who attended a liberal Episcopal school (look up the policies of the Episcopal Church, and what it split over) the same was said by the liberal students at this school, that Islam and Muhammad, along with others, had elements of truth to them. Is the Episcopal Church on your list for approving of those similar words? I just wonder if it is. Because you don’t sound as if you know the facts about how powerful of a force Islam is, especially with help from political correctness that Mormonism does not have at all.

Interesting...

do you have more info on this ???

Maybe Beck thinks he is starting a mormon “Promise Keepers” following and completing what the earlier mormons failed to do...

Since the LDS are not Christian, there are no “camps”.

Since it sounds like you are not in the Christian camp I will give you back your pity, you will need it at some point

For goodness sakes all I said was, "Frankly there is room for peace, love, and understanding". Room...that's all...meaning it is possible.

I am astounded that so much is read into such a simple statement.... Based on your attack, you embody the very heart of religious warfare.

More anti-Mormon(ism if you prefer) propaganda... different day.

Someone who lives by the propaganda of Joseph Smith has little room to criticize the words of others....the ridiculous claims of mormon leaders through the years of speaking with God and Jesus, of being personally visited by "Peter James, John the Baptist and Jesus", the leaders that claimed the nation's founding fathers demanded to be proxy-baptized into mormonism...the church that baptizes by proxy souls that are dead as members of the mormon church...church presidents and leaders who were led astray by a con man's tale of a "white salamander who transformed itself into an 'old spirit,' struck Joseph Smith three times, and made him unable to retrieve the golden plates at that time."...salamander? ROTFL!

Similar beliefs does not confirm association.

Reading the link I provided would have made clear that association IS confirmed.

A Latter-day Saint Perspective on Muhammad

"A cabinet minister in Egypt, aware of the common ground shared by Muslims and Latter-day Saints, once remarked to Elder Howard W. Hunter of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles that “if a bridge is ever built between Christianity and Islam it must be built by the Mormon Church.” 13 The examples of Latter-day Saint–Muslim interaction mentioned above, together with the Church’s establishment in 1989 of two major centers for educational and cultural exchange in the Middle East (Jerusalem and Amman), reflect the traditional attitude of respect for Islam that Church leaders have exhibited from earliest times. These activities represent tangible evidence of Latter-day Saint commitment to promote greater understanding of the Muslim world and witness an emerging role for the Church in helping to bridge the gap that has existed historically between Muslims and Christians."

This comment from you makes no sense to me at all.

"Because you don’t sound as if you know the facts about how powerful of a force Islam is, especially with help from political correctness that Mormonism does not have at all."

It is the mormon church who is reaching out to Islam in a very PC way.

The Bible warns that even some of the elect will be deceived. I'll be cautious too, "we" restory God to this country - nope, we repent as a nation, then God restores His mercy and grace again. One think they can on their own works move God, the other moves God by repudating their works.

The Mormon Church is reaching out to Islam.

Doesn’t mean that Islam really even cares, or will continue to care. Put in mind that Mormonism is guilty of a high blasphemy to Islam. They are guilty of believing that God himself came down and lived as a human being. Islam does not allow god to be portrayed in a human way. Those who believe this are infidels. Local Muslims have also cooperated with Christian Churches (Catholic and Protestant) in a variety of locations. Once again, you fail to show me something unique to this church. Once again, let me tell you exactly what I have heard at an Episcopal School, which none of the staff disapproved of. There is no association confirmed, just the attempt to reach out, which is a proven failure when you ask how many Muslims convert to Mormonism, or Christianity? Does this Church think that they can win? The idea is ludicrous.
