Was executed Virginia woman, Teresa Lewis, really a Christian?

On Sept. 23, 2010, in Jarrat, Virginia, 41 yr. old Teresa Lewis was executed by lethal injection in connection with the murder of her husband, Julian Lewis and her stepson Charles "C.J." Lewis in October 2002. Thousands of individuals petitioned VA Governor Robert F. McDonnell to change her sentence to "life in prison" to no avail. (SaveTeresaLewis.org) News reports around the nation mentioned the story citing details about female executions (the last one in the U.S. was here in Texas in 2005; of the current 10 TX females on death row, 4 are from the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex - details).

The News Media has also reported on Ms. Lewis's life including the fact that she was a church-going Christian caught up in sex and drugs who callously prayed with her husband shortly before allowing the men who shot Mr. Lewis and his son into the Lewis's home as part of an elaborate plan to reap the benefits of Mr. Lewis's life insurance policy. She reportedly involved her 16 yr old daughter who had sex with one of the gun-men. Is it possible for someone to be a Christian and do something that cold and corrupt?

Only reliable way to find out is to throw her body into the river and see if it floats.

If she was then she's a dead Christian.

Why do people think that being a Christian means you become sinless? This shows a complete misunderstanding of Christian faith.

Christians, like all humans, engage in sin because we are sinners first. While Christ will offer unlimited forgiveness for those sins, He does NOT automatically set aside the worldly consequences of that sin. Thinking otherwise also misrepresents the faith.

If this person sincerely asked for forgiveness of all of her sins from Jesus before she was executed, then she will have had no problems getting into heaven.

Who knows. Who cares. She deserved the death penalty, like many other women who murder in cold blood. God knows whether she was a Christian, and now she knows the truth about herself.

Only way they could have improved this situation was if they took her remaining accomplice and gave him the needle at the same time. She may have had a low IQ however her husband and stepson are as dead as if she were a genius.

In my opinion no. Refer to the doctrine of apostasy. Hope I spelled that right.

I am not reading the whole article, but there are bad people who happen to claim — and worship under — every faith. No faith is immune.

In my religion it is said, and I believe it to be true for all, that G-d provides a good option in every choice a human has to make. She chose evil.

I see no reason to stay an execution just because a murderer is a "Christian." Coming to faith in Christ does not exempt one from governmental punishment for murder. Christ's blood covers one's sins in the eyes of God, but not in the eyes of the government.

If she truly has faith in God and His Son, and committed this deed, the sooner she is sent to the presence of God, the better.

I think she’s like those liberal DemocRATS who are always telling the morons in the “media” that they are “a Republican that voted for Bush, TWICE, and have a son/daughter serving in Iraq but now support Obama”. See my tag.

Does it matter? Should “real” Christian converts be exempt from the death penalty after committing a capital crime? It’s not unusual for prisoners to “find the Lord” in prison.
