Atheists and agnostics, Jews and Mormons are among the highest-scoring groups in a 32-question survey of religious knowledge by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life. On average, Americans got 16 of the 32 questions correct. Atheists and agnostics got an average of 20.9 correct answers. Jews (20.5) and Mormons (20.3). The conclusions being drawn from the results of the survey are silly. The questions aren’t even all about religion - there were some related to the Constitution and judicial decisions. While knowing the decisions might be helpful, not knowing them doesn’t mean someone has less knowledge of religion than one who does.
As I said above, got 31 right.
I answered one question wrongly and it was PRECISELY on the Supreme Court’s decision that found classroom prayer unconstitutional.
I was mistaken in my belief that the Supreme Court permitted a teacher to lead a class in prayer ( that was one of the questions ). Of course I PERSONALLY DISAGREE with the Supreme Courts decision. THAT WAS *NOT* the original intent of the framers.
Classroom prayers WERE a part of MANY schools prior to this novel decision made by our modern SCOTUS.
If someone says he is, then it is pretty difficult for a pollster to argue with. What kind of rules and interrogation would decide purity, and what difference would it really mean anyway?
Well, many of them want to think that. Then Steven Hawking says something stupid like gravity could create something from nothing, proving them wrong.
**Only 7 of the 32 questions dealt with Christian faith.**
Slanted quiz, in my opinion.
“If someone says he is, then it is pretty difficult for a pollster to argue with. What kind of rules and interrogation would decide purity, and what difference would it really mean anyway?”
Not to worry...I would never suggest any sort of “interrogation.” ;-)
I was merely stating what is obvious to those who are Christians. The entire poll was nonsense in my opinion and being used as some sort of attempt to *prove* that Christians are ignorant. Silly....
Got all 32 correct.
I got 23 correct - that wasn’t too bad. The question about saved by faith kinda stumped me because I wanted it to say faith in Jesus Christ then I would have known what to put.
