I guess I’m looking at this in a warped way. I’m simply stating that it’s disconcerting that the wife wouldn’t be there.
Maybe not warped - but you haven't had your heart broken & have your world collapse around you like his wife has.
I believe that miracles are "Divine Interventions" our Loving Triune God uses occasionally to draw more of His children back to Him. The Chilean miners provided Him with a just such an opportunity.Most of them were religious to begin with,they were cut off from light and sun,buried deep within the bowels of the earth,there were 33 of them and Jesus had lived on earth 33 years.
Furthermore on October 13th 1917 Mary made her 6th appearance to three children at Fatima,Portugal. She had promised to send a sign to them that all could witness so that the world would know that many prayers were needed to stop abuses that would occur in Russia if people didn't wake up and honor God.
Seventy thousand people showed up on a cold and rainy day,many of them there because they were certain nothing would happen and they could write about the silly believers. The amazing thing was the sun started spinning toward earth the ground dried up and the world was shocked. This was known as the "Miracle of the Sun".
What a perfect way for God to give man another chance to find Jesus,Jesus Who said "I am the Way,the Truth and the Life" from darkness to light. Wow.

If RC's want to worship Mary have at it, but she didn't have anything to do with this. It was God using a group of Born Again Christians to witness to their fellow trapped miners and then the rest of Chile when they were rescued.

On the other hand, the Spirit opens the eyes and ears of those who are ready so who am I to say "too bad more people were unaware of the place God played in this unfolding event". He calls those who are listening in many mysterious ways.

In trying to give Mary credit, or in anyway imply that she had a hand in this great event illustrates why the Marian cult is so wrong. The glory is to God and no other.
Who in Scripture does everything possible to turn Christians away from giving God the glory?
