I'm going listen to the folks he taught, and not rely solely on the acoompanying "manual" for my education.

Have you got a YouTube link or an mp3 of the Apostles that I can download from iTunes? I must have missed it when it came out.

Cordially,

Cheese is good, but I'd rather have all these Protestants stop referring to themselves as "Christians". Not only is it a lie, it turns off others that might actually be interested in following the teachings of Christ because they confuse many of the unChristian teachings of Protestants with the teachings of Christians in Christ's Church.

I don't care if they want to be called "Paulatians" or "Biblists". Just so long as they don't call themselves Christians if they don't AT LEAST place the teachings in the Gospels ahead of those of St. Paul and the Old Testament. That's the LEAST a real Christian can do.

A YouTube link would be just slightly better than some supposed “magic book”. To learn what the Apostles passed on to the next generations of Bishops, you need look no further than Church Christ founded upon his resurrection. It’s still around today! Google Roman Catholic or Eastern Orthodox Church, and you’ll find someone that can help you out.

"Lots of people believe in the Easter bunny, too. That's a tradition."

Indeed it is, a secular (well actually an Anglo Saxon pagan)"small t" tradition.

"The Bible is quite clear about Mary and Joseph having sex and other children."

M, no one, until a generation or two after the Reformers, believed that. That's just an historical fact. As I have said before, maybe the Holy Spirit went off for a nap for the first 1500 years after Pentecost, but I doubt it. Maybe, maybe the the Evil One has misled a rebellious people, the protestants, into heresy after you rejected all of what your Holy Mother Church was teaching instead of simply and appropriately "reforming" those areas where Rome had strayed from the Faith.

"They could have just made it up and passed it off as being true and here are millions of people believing something on their say so that is not even alluded to in the Bible."

The bishops who put the NT together for you could have lied to you too, M.

"There's no reason in the world to pass off this nonsense about the immaculate conception of Mary and her perpetual virginity."

M, do you know what the dogma of the Immaculate Conception is? Do you know that the Reformers believed in the Blessed Mother's perpetual virginity? Why do you suppose that the Holy Spirit abandoned His Church for lets say 1600+ years on that subject? BTW, the Immaculate Conception was dogmatized by the Latins in the 1840s, for reasons which escape me but were apparently sufficient for Pope Pius IX. We Orthodox consider it an "innovation", just like the filioque you recite when you pray the Creed. That's not "in the bible" either. Its origins are Spanish (6th century) as a reaction to Arianism. The ONLY reason any protestant prays the Creed with the filioque is because the Roman Catholic Church, your Holy Mother Church, taught it to you that way!

“unChristian teachings”?

Like worship of Mary and the “saints”? or cannibalism and drinking human blood? or maybe that self inflicted pain has merit with God?

Yeah, I can see how such teachings would be a real turn off if anyone thought them teachings of Christ.

Now about that cheese.

No it doesn't, because it says that we should walk in them. We are not clockworks, we choose how to "walk".

Wasn't Moses called to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt?

Wasn't Joseph called to save the people from a terrible drought?

Wasn't Jonah called to bring Nineveh to repentance?

Wasn't our Lord called to bring salvation to the world?

Seems to me there is a pattern here that we are called to good works. We are not called just so that we may happen to do good works.

To show that the word means victim sacrifice or victim offering, which is different from other types of offerings. Thysia/zhertva is used when an innocent dies, because a death of an innocent is unjust, ...It makes no difference if the innocent volunteered to be killed for someone else. The principle of injustice is still there and so is the victimhood.

I hoped Epaphroditus didn't grow too fond of the victim from the Philippians when he brought him to Paul. It sounds like something from Hamlet. No wonder you don't like Paul.

Here's a good summary: Sola Scriptura Protestants are not being truthful when they call themselves "Christians".

Let me know if you need help with anything else.

Ephesian's was written to a CHURCH ,saved men and women.. It was not a letter on HOW TO BE SAVED

Interesting that without the verse 10 the Protestants routinely offer Eph 2 as a prooftext for "Faith alone". Now that you have seen that it actually says that we are saved by grace alone through faith and works, it no longer is teaching anything?

However, your remark makes no sense. The recepients of the letter are said to be "quickened" and in some sense even "saved". and the passage explains how that happens: by grace alone through faith and walking in the good works. So that is how we all, not just Ephesians, are saved.

Like worship of Mary and the “saints”?

Please tell me you know the difference between "worship" and "venerate". It seem very apparent you don't, and Kosta, Kolokotronis and a bunch of my Roman Catholic brothers in Christ have explained it to you folks at least 6 different times in the last year here. Come on already. Don't make me explain it again. Surely you're not so soft that you can't retain this information. You're not a gnat. Stop acting like one.

You repeat yourself, so I’ll repeat the answer. “Firstborn” does nto signify that there was a secondborn. It is a legal status of a male child dedicated to God.

Childbirth would have destroyed the *evidence* of her virginity.

The hymen was not destroyed, miraculously. You don't have to believe it, but the Church teaches that as a historical fact.

By the way, were it recorded in the scripture you still would have to believe the Church that to be a fact, because it is the Church who produced the scripture.

WHY Catholics are so obsessed with her perpetual virginity

Because it happens to be the historical truth and our Church is a truth-telling institution.

Very good post. But why does our desire to maintain the record given us though the fathers of the Church albeit not from the scripture, an “obsession” that is “suspect”?

This "tradition" is passed down from people that believed sex would somehow soil her

How would sex with her lawful husband "soil her"? We have plenty of saints who were married with children.
