In Christ Alone lyrics

Songwriters: Getty, Julian Keith; Townend, Stuart Richard;

In Christ alone my hope is found He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground Firm through the fiercest drought and storm

What heights of love, what depths of peace When fears are stilled, when strivings cease My Comforter, my All in All Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh Fullness of God in helpless Babe This gift of love and righteousness Scorned by the ones He came to save

?Til on that cross as Jesus died The wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid Here in the death of Christ I live, I live

There in the ground His body lay Light of the world by darkness slain Then bursting forth in glorious Day Up from the grave He rose again

And as He stands in victory Sin?s curse has lost its grip on me For I am His and He is mine Bought with the precious blood of Christ

Always disappointed to see the religious bigotry and hatred from our friends here. On the other hand it confirms that the ignorance and corruption that Luther saw and acted on in his day has not gone away

AMEN!. Semper Reformanda!

Without the reformation I think some here would be warming up the old stake again.

No kidding.

The Reformation gave us rampant divorce, rampant homosexualism, and rampant promiscuity due to the reformed churches’ absolute acceptance and promotion of birth control.

LOL LOL...how foolish an argument, if you want a serious discussion of doctrine we could talk..but throwing insults against the wall to see what sticks is foolishness..

A year after the Pope proclaimed the teaching on contraception unchanged and unchangeable in the Humanae Vitae encyclical on July 29, 1968, 44% of Catholic women of childbearing age who were regular churchgoers were using artificial contraception....

By 1974, 83% of Catholics said that they disagreed with Humanae Vitae, and many prominent theologians and bishops dissented. By 1980, over 75% of Catholic women in the US had used artifical contraception, and only a third of US priests believed that it was immoral.

The Center of Disease Control and Prevention 2002 National Survey of Family Growth revealed that 97% of American Catholic women over age 18 have used a banned form of contraception, which is the same percentage as the general population.

The hypocrisy of the claim of immorality because of birth control does bite back
http://stanford.edu/class/humbio129s/cgi-bin/blogs/feministlens/2009/05/14/how-many-catholics-follow-the-vaticans-ban-on-contraception/

The claim of rampant homosexuality among non Catholics is laughable as is the accusation of increased divorce ...look around yourself next time you are in church ...

"So, what is the Gospel?"

I long ago gave up on trying to have a legitimate discussion with you and have taken a policy to no longer feed the trolls.

You nailed it...also, Calvinism leads to atheism...see Holland, England...New England...they flop to Unitarianism, then chuck it all.

...LOL
By this reasoning Catholicism actually leads to atheism because protestantism came out of Catholicism...so the root cause must be Rome

Quite amazing, isn't it that they do not know the Gospel? And isn't it wonderful, that as Catholics we hear the Gospels every day?

"You aren't trolling Protestant threads again, are you?"

No, only responding when some loon mischaracterizes or lies about the teachings of "Rome". (Some can't even be honest about the name by which they call the Church). If the threads remain honest about the Church then I have no reason to be here or care what you believe or discuss. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll need to chime in frequently.

GAMECOCK'S FASCINATING HOMEPAGE

Hey Gamecock, while you are spreading false information about me on your home page, why don't you throw in Thomas Jefferson (yes, the President), who called Paul the "first corrupter of the doctrines of Jesus" on your "Catholic anti-Paul rant list"? I can't imagine what gave you the idea to list my quotes as "FR Catholic?" Please, if you are going to use my quotes (by all means—spread the world, please!), do so correctly, under a separate title "Scriptural truth brought to you by an FR Agnostic"? :)

I'm wondering what "lie about the teaching of Rome" had come up when you first piped up on post #8? The original thread was about praising the Lord in song.

Is this the pot calling the kettle black? One unbeliever calling another one as a defense ?

Protestant doctrine embraces evil.

Catholic doctrine rejects evil.

And of course, there are sinners whose actions run counter to doctrine.

With your logic we would have to conclude that Jesus’ moral teachings were incorrect because most of his audience rejected his moral teachings.

Protestant doctrine embraces birth control and gayness and divorce.

Catholic doctrine rejects all three. And I follow these doctrines.

Since when is posting a quote spreading false information?
Sounds like the Obama defense.

The loons and liars I was referring to were Luther and Calvin.

Just a sincere question. God never called Paul an apostle, he called himself that....why? Getting knocked off a horse or being blinded by a light does not make one an apostle..

None of the other apostles argued with Paul calling himself an apostle, what’s your issue here?
