It has *retread* written all over it- evo/atheist style.....

The name looks familiar. Is it a variation of a zotted name?

Is he a ‘Muslim’ ‘agnostic’ troll?

First time I've ever been suspected of being a Muslim... :-)

Just for the record, I'm an atheist.

There was a great thread about a youngish exorcist who ?was thinking of running for office? No, not Jindal... I’ve had to reload this laptop since then and lost the link.

J, do you remember the guy I’m talking about? From about two years ago?

What’s the Arabic name mean?

It's not Arabic, it's Ungaran.

If I was writing an article on a superstition such as astrology or witches having magic powers I would certainly try to be sophisticated about it; and as for being snarky and cynical...why not? Some beliefs deserve to be mocked.

I don't recall ever encountering anyone who actually believed that Green Lanterns are real; I wouldn't hesitate to mock them if they had such a silly belief. I would point out that there are some on this forum who regularly tout their belief in UFOs and aliens...

When you see anyone who chooses the name of a comic book superhero alien, who comes onto a bulletin board that promotes social, fiscal, political, and religiously conservative opinions - who professes their belief in atheism and "capital L" Libertarianism, who denies social conservatism, and who posts opinions ridiculing others for having social, fiscal, political, and religiously conservative beliefs - the same beliefs that said bulletin board agrees with and promotes, mind you - ping me.

Why? Because as you said in post #12 above:

"...as for being snarky and cynical...why not? Some beliefs deserve to be mocked".

C'mon, fanboys, let's get the details right! In stories set on New Earth (also known as Earth-0) while Alan Scott's power battery is in fact magical, Abin Sur's battery and those of the rest of the Green Lantern Corps are powered by Oan super-science.

Enough banter for tonight, have to get up early for work!

You would try, and you would fail. Sophistication is something one either has or hasn't.

and as for being snarky and cynical...why not? Some beliefs deserve to be mocked.

Perhaps so, but not by someone who's attempting to be sophisticated about it.

You guys call everything from a garden-variety sin to a bad hair day a "demon". I'm talking about the real thing.

Call me back when you have teenagers expelling a being who can curse them out in Aramaic, Latin, Greek, and Egyptian, and tell them all about what they do when nobody is looking -- in front of their mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters.

...who professes their belief in atheism

To say otherwise would be a lie.

and "capital L" Libertarianism,

Incorrect. "small L". I don't vote Libertarian because a) they can't win at the national level and b) they're isolationists who advocate cutting defense spending to an unacceptably low level.

who denies social conservatism,

I certainly deny that I'm a social conservative. And why not? It's true, after all.

and who posts opinions ridiculing others for having social, fiscal, political, and religiously conservative beliefs

If by "political" you mean defense and foreign policy, that's certainly not the case, nor is fiscal. As for social and religious beliefs, I will certainly mock certain absurdities such as creationism or faith healing now and then, but I try to restrict my attacks to the actual belief, not the person themselves. I don't always succeed, but no one's perfect...

So, you came on the Religion Forum with the intent to disrupt and mock the beliefs of others?

I see. That sure is interesting......

If you have such a low opinion of them, why didn't you just scroll past the thread? Why come on here and poke a stick in someone's eye?

So, you came on the Religion Forum with the intent to disrupt and mock the beliefs of others?

I found this thread on the main forum page. How does one tell that a thread is on the Religion Forum?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't such beliefs as Islam and Mormonism regularly mocked on this very forum? Is the problem that it's your particular ox that's being gored?

If you have such a low opinion of them, why didn't you just scroll past the thread? Why come on here and poke a stick in someone's eye?

Again, please correct me if I'm wrong...but don't you on occasion comment on threads involving evolution, and mock those who believe in it? Why don't you just scroll past the thread?

UFOs are certainly "real" in the sense that they are optical phenomena or misidentified objects in the sky. They're just not Greys, Klingons, or Wookies...

The issue here is not whether someone who is not an ordained priest can cast out a demon, but whether they ought to, and whether they ought to be permitted to exercise that ministry in the name of the Church.

i would prefer someone who would cast out
a demon in the NAME of YHvH.

The "church" are merely the sheep which
require the leadership of Yah'shua.

This thread is posted in the Religion Forum.

If you do not wish to see RF posts, do NOT use the "everything" option on the browse. Instead, browse by "News/Activism." When you log back in, the browse will reset to "everything" - so be sure to set it back to "News/Activism."

Also, just like liberals are "trolls" on Free Republic, atheists are "trolls" on the Religion Forum.

However, some atheists are tolerated because they give the regulars an object for their preaching or humor.

But there must be a theological context to the atheist's posts. Atheists who appear in the middle of theological disputes having nothing but spitwads to throw will be instructed to leave the thread or perhaps the Religion Forum itself.
