. . . rather than in the sacramental sense. You can't get a metaphor out of "This is My body."
I don’t have to get a metaphor. I have to ask what Jesus’ words mean and one way of doing that is to examine what he said otherwise and what the inspired writers of Scripture said, something you’ve not done here.
How exactly could Jesus’ disciples “eat” his flesh and “drink” his blood and yet have him stand there before them? How could Christ appear in heaven with his blood if it’s being drank by innumerable people?
Did Jesus ask his disciple to become cannibals and vampires?
You might say the bread actually becomes Jesus’ flesh when blessed and likewise the wine but in Matt. 26:26 what was Jesus breaking? His body or the loaf of bread? As the cup was passed Jesus called the contents “this product of the vine”, so was it his blood or wine? (Matt. 26:29)
Any close examination of the idea that the disciples were consuming human flesh and blood shows just how unscriptural it is.
Sounds like you’re babbling. You can’t claim “This is My body” is figurative and be unable to account for it as metaphor, which is what you are trying to do.
I don’t have to account for it, the Scriptures themselves do.
