Christians Embarassed of Proposed "Noah's Ark Amusement Park"
FactFindingTimes

Posted on 12/07/2010 5:20:13 PM PST by truthfinder9

In a major recession, some brainiacs decided they want to build a $150 million Noah's Ark Amusement Park in Kentucky. The effort is backed by Answers in Genesis, the group that sunk millions into a "creation" museum that highlights their distorted view of science with such things as men living with dinosaurs.

Many Christians are asking, however, aren't there better things to spend this money on?

"Hungry people, missionaries, new churches, charities, all should be higher on the list. This is embarassing," said one churchgoer.

Another added, "How can we afford to waste this money while the government is busy destroying our economy?"

"It's time to reign in these people and put the money to something God would be proud of."

Here is the actual link

And for the record, I am totally in favor of this project. Among other things, it will employ nearly 1000 people - in these "tough economic" times. And the value of the teaching possible with this place is enormous.

Where’s the article, slick? I searched Noah’s Ark Amusement Park and came up with this: http://www.noahsarkwaterpark.com/

That's a huge waterpark in the Wisconsin Dells...been there.

Sorry sir, perhaps if you’re looking for an idiot, a look in the miror may be appropriate.

Dinosaur: 1841, coined in Modern Latin by Sir Richard Owen, from comb. form of Gk. deinos “terrible” (see dire) + sauros “lizard,” of unknown origin. Figurative sense of “person or institution not adapting to change” is from 1952. Source: Online Etymological Dictionary

I'm puzzled by the idea that the money should have been spent on "the poor" instead of on carpenters, masons, electricians and other construction workers. Isn't putting people to work better than giving them handouts?

As for being embarrassed by the thing, there are worse things to be embarrassed about. I'm not going to get excited about this one.

You miss my point.

You actually had several points. I chose to address one.

That money can be used to reach many more people in many more locations. We need to be responsible with our money and multiply it.

I'm not going to discourage people who are passionate about a certain type of Ministry - as long as the ultimate objective is to serve the LORD and uphold HIS Word.

Mary thought it was a worthy Ministry to anoint the LORD's head with expensive oil. Judas disagreed, and was offended by this 'irresponsible' use of money.

Mary thought it was a worthy Ministry to sit at her LORD's feet and listen to HIS Words. Martha disagreed, and was offended by her 'irresponsible' use of time.

From the perspective of the World - Judas and Martha were right. In reality - Mary made the best call...

If people want to support the AiG Ministry - God Bless them.

John 12:3-8 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, which should betray him, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein. Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this. For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

Luke 10:38-42 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

In order to get to a multi-billion year universe, one must first deny the flood of Noah. That’s a real problem for OEC’ers.

Agreed - that's why Noah's Flood is attacked with such vehemence.

So people that lived before 1841 should have known that Dinosaur was the word then, huh?

I guess they were really stupid way back then, but fortunately you’re real smart, from eating all them smart pills that yer rabit gave ya.

Then persue them, by all means. I just didn’t realize that you were the arbitor of all that is worthy.

Well, sad sac, are you reporting all your income, or just what you get 1099s for?

Are we seeing a little projection here?

I’m inclined to trust Ken Ham; I know he’s honest, but I have my doubts about those like you with a leftist, antichrist agenda.

All my income is on my 1099s.

A certain group in Australia sure didn't trust him. And rightly so.

>I’m inclined to trust Ken Ham; I know he’s honest, <

1 If any of you has a dispute with another, do you dare to take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the Lord’s people? 2 Or do you not know that the Lord’s people will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 4 Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, do you ask for a ruling from those whose way of life is scorned in the church? 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6 But instead, one brother takes another to court—and this in front of unbelievers!

7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated? 8 Instead, you yourselves cheat and do wrong, and you do this to your brothers and sisters. 9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men[a] 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

What has Ken Ham done with all the money he has taken in? What are his charitable actions?

And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves,

The whole inerrant Word of God issue, and the accuracy of the historical Biblical account,
sure brings out the dissension and separation in the ranks, so to speak. (Sheep over here, goats over there, please)

I read about this project in the newsletter and thought it was a truly inspired project. Imagine the witness of having every driver on I-75 seeing the gigantic, fullscale Ark not too far off the road and contemplating what it means.

The only “embarrassed” “Christians” are those who try to keep up their “reputation” with their worldly friends as “not a kooky Jesus freak”.

James 4:4
You people aren’t faithful to God! Don’t you know that if you love the world, you are God’s enemies? And if you decide to be a friend of the world, you make yourself an enemy of God.

(BTW, I’m going to send a resume to get in on this project!)

P.S. The article wasn’t about them. Since you were confused, let me explain it: It was about Christians wasting money on stupid stuff when they should be helping the world around them.

Why should Christians be embarrassed about a Noah's Ark amusement park and spending money there?

There are amusement parks built around talking mice that non-Christians spend money on instead of helping the world around them.

Why do non-Christians feel they get to dictate to Christians by trying to lay guilt trips on them, how they should live?
