Does this mean that we can soon expect the return of indulgences?

True indulgences never left.

Melchior, there are plenary and partial indulgences, and have been for many more years than either you or I have been alive. If you’re trying to make a none-too-veiled allusion to something related to, say 95 “theses,” I’d have to say that I didn’t think that you leaned that way.

Seriously, Holy Communion on the tongue is more appropriate and reverent. Considering the ever-present Catholic belief that the Holy Eucharist is Our Lord, body, blood, soul and divinity, whyever would we not want to be reverent?

I suggest that you spend 30 seconds googling the Church’s position on the profanation that occurs should the host be dropped.

We who believe, “And whilst they were at supper, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke: and gave to his disciples, and said: Take ye, and eat. This is my body. And taking the chalice, he gave thanks, and gave to them, saying: Drink ye all of this. For this is my blood of the new testament, which shall be shed for many unto remission of sins.” take it very seriously, as well as literally.
