"Scripture teaches that the coming of Christ will be sudden and unexpected, especially to unbelievers. This is the teaching of Paul in I Thess. 5:1-10. But to say that it will be sudden and unexpected is not to say that it will be secret."

A bit dated by accurate. Recall all the hype about Jesus' soon return back in the months leading up to Y2K.

It’s not that they think the rapture will happen.

It’s that they are worried that it won’t.

I’ll read this later. Still amazed so many buy into text out of context that is a pretext.

MORE
UNMITIGATED
UNBIBLICAL
IRRATIONAL
UNHISTORICAL
IMPERCEPTIVE
CLUELESS
FARCICAL
BALDERDASH
predictably
from the
HOSTILE-TO-ISRAEL-REPLACEMENTARIANS et al!
How unimpressive.
How underwhelming.

Perhaps next they'll try and convince the world that the global government on the brink of overt emplacement has nothing to do with Bible Prophecy.

How they do so with a straight face is beyond me.

Perhaps they convince themselves that their rubberized 'Bibles' and their rubberized 'histories' are truth.

Or maybe they'll try and convince us that Damascus was utterly destroyed never to be lived in again--in 70AD!

Or perhaps they'll try and convince us that the sun, moon and stars have stopped shining because ALMIGHTY EVER FAITHFUL GOD HAS FORSAKEN HIS EVERLASTING PROMISES to the blood children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!

1Cor 15
22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

35
But some man will say, How are the dead raised up? and with what body do they come?

36
Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:

42
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption:

43
It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power:

44
It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.

We will have to die to be in what is called the rapture. even Jesus died but many people do not want to die but they want to go to heaven as they are, and we can see how popular that would be to people who were new to the truth.

Make merchandise out of the gospel and watch the money role in.

If there was a sudden rapture, wouldn’t those “left behind” understand immediately that they were wrong, realize there is a God and believe?
Sort of removes any need for faith.
Also, God has never removed believers from the consequences fo sin. Often they were the first to show up and help mop up, bringing people to christ in the process.
I don’t believe in a rapture as it has been explained by the churches who preach it.
The plain things are the main things.

correct -- we will not know, it could be tomorrow.

ok, now my questions --> caveat: note: these are just questions, I have no opinion either way on this, I just want to know both sides' answers to decide for myself

Why does the rapture have to be "secret"? Does it have to be secret? Is it even possible for this to be secret? Come on, wouldn't people notice if a large number of folks just disappeared? Isn't a secret contrary to I Thessalonians 4:16?

more frivolously -- why does the anti-Christ have to be Romanian? I gotta tell my Romanian friends about this, they're already tickled pink by the stories made about their national hero Vlad Țepeș

I have not been following this thread, but came across a good page that may be interesting, neither pro nor con: The Early Church Fathers, on Premillennialism and Eschatology: http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/q-and-a-fetch-msg.tcl?msg_id=00CAjU

"Even in Reformed circles there are numerous people reading these books. Many of these people are unaware that this viewpoint conflicts with Scripture and Reformed Theology."

Depends on what you mean by "Reformed Theology."
