Push for same-sex 'marriage' perverts essence and goal of family, says Pope

As efforts to legalize same-sex “marriage” proceed in the United States and countries around the world, Pope Benedict issued strong remarks on Jan. 14, saying that gay “marriage” perverts the “essence and goal of the family.”

Addressing officials from the city of Rome and the Italian region of Lazio, Pope Benedict said that legislation and policies that promote same-sex unions end up “penalizing” heterosexual couples, “who, not without effort, seek to maintain stable emotional ties which are juridically guaranteed and publicly recognized.”

“To this end,” he stressed, “the various components of society must agree on the objectives of education, in order for human love not to be reduced to an article of consumption, but to be seen and lived as a fundamental experience which gives existence meaning and a goal.”

The Pope made his comments to Gianni Alemanno, mayor of the City of Rome; Renata Polverini, president of the Region of Lazio, and Nicola Zingaretti, president of the Province of Rome, for the country's traditional exchange of New Year greetings.

Though currently not legal in Italy, same-sex “marriage” has been approved legislatively in countries across the globe as well as several states in the U.S.

Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa and Washington, D.C have all legalized gay “marriage” in the last two years, with similar initiatives being pushed in other states under the guise of marriage as a civil right.

I have no doubt they will try to force Catholic churches and priests to perform “marriages” on homosexuals.

T’anks Mr.Markomalley-I shall be sending this affirmation to the Colorado State Congress That is being asked to override the express will of the people- who said NO to Ref.I and civil unions.Sadly, and somewhat typically it has been the Democrats that the reprobates expect to push this.Pray God will work to open the eyes of our men and women Many of whom claim to be Christian (and many of them Catholic) Yet they choose to be blind.and rebellious.

Who are we to judge? We should love animals as we love ourselves. Hate is not a family value.

Gays, bi’s, man on 12-year old, man-on-dog, man on cow, dog on dog, all feel themselves entitled to a family. Who are we to judge, they say?

Civilization will go down the tubes if dissolute Christians fail to preserve the traditional male-female family and every maniac is claiming his own bizarro family.

Once again, their motto and highest value: Who are we to judge?

You are correct. The Pope is correct. The liberals’ only argument, an extremely weak one at that, is “who are you to judge?”

I think it’s more complicated than that - in fact I’d go so far as to say that people are being far too simplistic.

From a British-law-as-it-stands perspective, Marriage is, in the common law, the natural law, custom, precedent, canon law, and IN THE CONSTITUTION ITSELF, instituted between man, woman, and God - with the role of the church and/or the state, to act as witnesses. It is defended by two whole branches of government: the Lords Spiritual, and the Head of State. Short of abolishing the monarchy, separating church and state, joining the federal superstate and accepting a Constitution that doesn’t protect the sanctity of marriage, the Homosexual Agenda in England cannot win this one.

But you know what’s really odd? It’s not the homosexuals of England who’re demanding full marriage rights for homosexual couples in England. Look at Elton John: biggest poof going, and he’s against it. The vast majority of people lobbying for same sex marriage in England, are STRAIGHT liberals.

They do so because they want us to be swallowed up by the EU - a secular neo-Soviet superstate which seeks to impose its will on sovereign nation states, has no regard for any faith, does not embrace any one church as its own, and where the “new!” Constitution serves the superstate not its citizens.

If evidence were needed, consider the absurdity of straight people making a legal challenge for the right to enter into a “civil partnership” on the basis that, since it’s nothing more than a legal contract, “civil partnerships” shouldn’t be limited to homosexual couples.

On its own, that proves to me that the liberals aren’t pushing this issue because they think homosexuals are being oppressed. Rather, they’re campaigning for a 100% secularized format for “marriage 2.0” on its political merit - once they have a form of marriage that they can redefine at will, they can use public policy to persuade kids to adopt “marriage 2.0” instead of real marriage (”marriage 1.0”). And, once they’ve stripped religion, custom, law, precedent and constitutional mandate away from “Marriage 2.0”, “Marriage 2.0” serves no interest but that of the federal superstate.

Pop quiz: how were the Soviets ever going to subvert a system of government where two whole tiers of Parliament were duty-bound to protect the Christian heritage, ensuring that the state itself has to answer to a higher calling than its own ends?

Answer: Strip away everything those barriers existed to protect, one by one.

The shocking thing is that America is much closer to the brink, than England.

American Liberals don’t NEED to abolish a monarchy before they can put the Constitution in the hands of one man with a mandate to tear it to shreds. It’s already happened. Free Republic makes that point abundantly clear.

American Liberals don’t NEED to seperate church and state at the Federal level - the Constitution precluded their integration.
American Liberals don’t NEED to create a federal superstate - it’s already in place even if Obama doesn’t know how many states are in it.
American Liberals don’t NEED to draft a Constitution that doesn’t explicitly protect the sanctity of marriage - the original Constitution didn’t either.

America lives in mortal terror of the Homosexual Agenda and the Obamanation, and deep down they know these are mere manifestations of the Soviet mission.
They are absolutely right to fear it.
