Classic illustration of the dangers of blowing up any individual into an idol. Every human being disappoints. Every human being lets us down. (And we, others.) Famed in song and story.
For Father T
St. Michael, the Archangel, defend us in battle
Be our protection against the wickedness
and snares of the devil;
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray,
and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
Cast into hell Satan and all evil spirits
who prowl through the world seeking the ruin of souls.
True Tax-chick.Here’s is the lastest statement and this one is from HLI.
Human Life International responds to Fr. Euteneuers release about his resignation.
“Since the time of Rev. Euteneuers resignation, the Board subsequently learned of additional allegations in connection with his exorcism ministry. As Rev. Euteneuer no longer serves as president of HLI, we are not especially endowed with the competence or authority to investigate, evaluate, or act on these additional allegations, but they have been submitted to the proper ecclesiastical authorities.
HLI received certain assurances that Rev. Euteneuer was no longer engaged in public ministry and therefore, until this time, in our efforts to observe Catholic teaching, we have avoided comment (beyond our original statement). This decision was based on all the teachings of the Church but in particular the Catechisms instructions as follows:”
Father Euteneuer and those who have interacted with him are important because they’re human beings. The whole situation with him and his breathless-fans-turned-howling-mob is such a perfect psych-textbook case study that one’s tempted to believe it’s fiction almost.
However, what really matters, as far as I’m concerned, is the mission of HLI. I just found something from them marking my page in a library book, and I’m going to write a check.
Scary stuff,if they haven’t been dead for 100 years I don’t read them. That’s my motto.I too support the work of HLI.
Wow ... Very sad.
My prayers for Fr. Tom and EVERYONE involved.
I don’t post here often, but I remember the speculation when Fr. Tom first left HLI a number of months back. A Freeper posted a comment along the lines of, “I hope this is not a Fr. Cutie-like situation.”
Eesh. Seems pretty close. Except Fr. Tom is far more repentant.
Assumes facts not in evidence. Better brush up on the Eighth Commandment.
In the past, when a priest looked like he was reaching “rock star” popularity the Church wisely moved them out of the public eye because valid miracles or not the focus is supposed to be on God working through the human and not the human.
No. Answers question raised by another freeper as to how a person could violate a vow of chastity without performing the sexual act. Better read people's posts more carefully.
Public acclaim can be a drug. Of course, we do need priests in various positions that are not under direct diocesan supervision, but it’s a challenging situation.
This is truly heartbreaking to hear about!
I will be praying for him.
I went to see Father Corapi speak just recently and he said just that. “Don't put me up on a pedestal.”
He went on to explain that he still has never gotten used to people coming up to him in awe and the celebrity aspect of his ministry. He is a very humble person and does what he can to keep it that way.
I will pray that Father Corapi isn't attacked by the Devil in the same way that Father E. was attacked. Man in general is weak by nature. Even the best priests can succumb to temptation.
God help them all, and may God help Father E.!
Fr. Tom is repentant.
Fr. Cutie is unrepentant, arrogant ... and now protestant.
He is a good looking fellow and has a positive spirit. Doing exorcisms cannot be an easy road to hoe either.
He didn’t target women. That one’s a real crock.
I tire of Hannity giving our adversaries so much air time on tv and radio. He's already practicing the fairness doctrine.
Stack up the years he kept his vows vs. the new revelations.
I repeated St. Michael’s Prayer before entering my relative’s nursing home. It was the only way I could go in there. Florida has terrible nursing homes and pricey but so so assisted living places.
Hannity is such a big baby...He was whining about Father on his Feb 2nd show. Father was merely applying Church teaching. Hannity needs to practice humility...and take what Father told him to heart...
True. And the failure is on the part of the big-headed individual, but in the case of this man, the big-headedness was fostered and fed by many on this site. (Not you).
(BTW, now that we are setting the record straight, is it now okay to read Harry Potter?)
From what I've heard, Hannity just couldn't help himself on his show tonight (2/2).
Only those without a sin should cast a stone.
He’s repented. He deserves redemption.
And I’m just glad he likes women. Not boys, men, or little girls.
I don’t know ... could reading Harry Potter cause us to be unfaithful to our spouses?
That’s too bad. If a person expected others to grow up at some point, that person would be pretty disappointed.
Oh, I’m well aware that there are religious groupies. They really create problems when they start accusing priests of indiscretions that occurred only in their minds.
Well, Fr. Tom WAS involved in doing exorcisms, so Satan has a direct reason to go after him, in every way possible.
