Psalm 59 - KJV (Reformed Caucus)
Blue Letter Bible ^ | Long Time Ago | God

Posted on 02/14/2011 4:39:10 PM PST by HarleyD

Psa 59:1 To the chief Musician, Altaschith, Michtam of David; when Saul sent, and they watched the house to kill him.

Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.

Psa 59:2 Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

Psa 59:3 For, lo, they lie in wait for my soul: the mighty are gathered against me; not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.

Psa 59:4 They run and prepare themselves without my] fault: awake to help me, and behold.

Psa 59:5 Thou therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah.

Psa 59:6 They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

Psa 59:7 Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, doth hear?

Psa 59:8 But thou, O LORD, shalt laugh at them; thou shalt have all the heathen in derision.

Psa 59:9 Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.

Psa 59:10 The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

Psa 59:11 Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

Psa 59:12 For the sin of their mouth and] the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which] they speak.

Psa 59:13 Consume them in wrath, consume them], that they may] not be: and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah.

Psa 59:14 And at evening let them return; and] let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.

Psa 59:15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grudge if they be not satisfied.

Psa 59:16 But I will sing of thy power; yea, I will sing aloud of thy mercy in the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in the day of my trouble.

Psa 59:17 Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Trust me. They’re far more frustrating when the computer belongs to your wife. ;O)

HD-”When was the last time you did a manual backup?”

Wife-”What’s that? Was I suppose to do one? How do I do it? No one ever told me.”

It went downhill from there. :O)

I used to teach users of a major accounting package how it worked. I ended up teaching a lot of accounting due to the fact that many had learned on the job and didn’t really understand how to use anything other than their own system. At one place I thought it would be a breeze due to the older lady having an accounting degree, but instead there was nothing but problems. Always garbled data, and even garbled backups.

This was in the 8” diskette era, so one day I’m there trying to monitor the system and she says, “reach around the side of that filing cabinet and hand me the receivables disk if you would”. So, I looked around the cabinet, didn’t see a shelf or box in the floor, and figured “oh, on top”.

NO, there it was beside the other data disks. Held to the steel filing cabinet with a large magnet

Regards

Back around ‘80 or ‘81 I did some work for another engineer who had laid off his entire staff due to the Carter depression. The firat day I was there I was looking for the main COGO disk for the 2000 lot subdivision that I was there to finish, but to no avail, so I asked where it was.

This entailed a massive search through the office that took up a few hours. It finally showed up sitting on top of the CPU case at one of the work stations, sitting in a puddle of dried Coke, with a can tipped over on top of it. $8000 more or less worth of work posing as a drink coaster.

Many people I deal with are curiously unmoved by catastrophic personal data loss.

I was very fortunate that only the processor died on me. I pulled out the hard drive and bought a $16 hard drive reader (on top of the $1000 computer). I was able to find most of the files; however you never know what is missing. I keep the hard drive in a shoe box that I refer to as the ark of the covenant and pull it out when we find something needs to be restored.

But you're right, most people are unmoved by other people catastrophic data lost. That is, unless it's your wife who refuses to go to work until her problem is solved. :O)

No, I mean a lot of people seem curiously unmoved by their own catastrophic data loss. They drift from computer to computer. But, I guess, most people don't have documents, email and such going back to the late 80s.

Ping me privately if you need any advice. That's the kind of thing I do for a living.
